Message: My front axle makes a popping noise that sounds like something is binding while making turns and going in reverse. Has anyone had this problem or does anyone have any ideas?? BTW I have a 98cc 4x4 with a v6 3in body lift and 33's.
Thanks
Kevin

Message: Sounds like a bearing going bad.. I'm having the same type of popping noise but mine happens all the time. It's in the shop right now and they are trying to figure it out. I should have my truck back today.. I'll let you know.

I just got mine back from the shop yesterday because I needed a new clutch and and a few other parts. BTW I dont know how the 2000+ dakotas are set up, but the shop said that the U joints on the front drive shaft are so close to the exaust that they should be greased more than often because the heat can make them sieze (like mine did)

Message: I'll bet you that's what it is.. Because when it gets hot it clicks... :-)
SCORE!!! THRASH1 you ROCK. I'm going to pull my front drive shaft today and see if the clicking comes back or not.. then put it back in and drive it for about 20 mins. and see if it comes back.. I'll be you your right though. Hehehehehehe... WHOO HOO!! **whipes sweat off his forehead** ahh I feel much better having a good idea as to what the problem is.

Message: Knobby,
Let me know if that works. When I did it the popping wasn't as bad as before, but there still enough to make me worry. The dealer wants $80, "just to find the problem" but I know a shop will do it cheaper so I will take her in this week and get it checked out.
