Although I don't have a spray-in, I would definately go with that if you are looking for a liner. A drop-in will allow water to get in underneath it and eventually rust. It will also scratch the paint. Definately the spray-in.

Spray on all the way.
You should check out the different types since they are all a little different in all aspects.
I have Diamond Liner. Linex and rhino are others.
Worth the money.

I've checked out Line-X vs. Rhino...Rhino is by far the best. Don't waste your time or money with a drop-in...not only do they look cheap vs. the spray ins, they get water under them and stuff slides around really bad (Rhinos do not, its like rubber, nothing moves...well, unless your pulling G's in the corners).

OK, I gotta say something in defense of drop-ins. I carry a lot of heavy items like spud bars and my drop-in protects the bed from big dents, which I don't believe a spray-in can do. This is my second truck with a drop-in and I've never had trouble with water or rust. Sure, it rubs the paint up pretty bad, but you don't see it anyway. If you ditch the drop-in later on, get a repaint, no biggie.

I would still say spray-in all the way. I happened to get a thick rubber truck-mat when I got my dakota and that helps further protect the bed from dents from large, heavy items.

Even though I don't have one{yet}, I would and will go with the spray in. I really don't know which one I like the best yet, but definately a spray in.
Hey, can anyone answer this... If I got a spray in, and I had an icechest in the bed, and I climbed a really steep hill, would the icechest slide back to the tailgate, or would it tip over because the liner grips soo good? I really don't like to abuse alcohol. :p

Ahh...the debate between bed liners...as eternal as the debate between Dodges, Chevy's, and Fords. hehe!!
DougP nailed it. Rhino has more rubber-like composition. Things are more likely to stay in place. LineX has a harder, more plastic-like, composition to it.
For me, the choice was simple. LineX was over $120 cheaper than Rhino Lining. For the slipping, buy a couple bungee cords...they are only a couple of bucks for an assorted set at Wal-Mart. Things should be tied down in the box of truck anyways!!

I love my Herculiner! I sprayed mine in, so it acutally looks and works great. I would advise against rolling or painting a bedliner in. Spraying is the only way to go. Only cost me $130 as well.
