without trimming, 33's. With a little trimming possibly 305's or 35's, maybe

I have a 92 cc 4x4 dakota with a 2" homemad body lift and I have cranked the torsion bars about an 1 1/2 with 265/70-16 and dont have any rubbing at all. Will I be able to get 285 on it without rubbing and lifting it.Or will i have to put more lift in it.It would be nice if somebody made a suspension lift of about 3" like they do for the newer ones.

You will have rubbing issues especialy with the rear of the front fenders with 285/75R16 tires. On my '92 Dakota, I had to trim/hammer the front fenders all the way back to the floor/firewall. I also had to trim some plastic off the front valance and the rear fender flares. With only a torsion bar adjustment, I have 33X12.50R15 tires on stock 15X8 '99 Dakota wheels. The 285's are about the same height but about 1" narrower. A 305/70R16 tire is essentially the same dimensions as a 33X12.50 tire. To prevent rubbing on the front fenders, you will want to avoid a rim that pushes the tire out more. Wheel off-set is crucial here. That is why I went with stock Dakota wheels. Be aware that my tires do rub on the frame when turning in tight situations. The frame is very smooth in the front so I'm not concerned with cutting down a tire. I normally turn the wheel just until the tires rub then back off. Here are some pics of my truck before I installed a 2" Trailmaster add-a-leaf to the rear. Oh yeah, Trailmaster makes a 4" lift for our trucks (4" front/ 3" rear). http://spaces.msn.com/stuartmoser/photos/?_c02_owner=1
