I'm just curious on the Ball Joints becides ratteling your around alot what happens to the truck that's not good? Does having bad ball joints brake anything else? Like.. the CV joints on the front axle or ?

Just curious because I REALLLLY!!!! need to replace mine.

throws off your alignment and you can't get it properly aligned until you have them replaced, so I'm told...thats what 4 alignment shops told me when I was trying to get mine aligned...therefore it can advance the wear on a number of components, mainly your tires.

by the way knobby, if your going to do the ball joints just do the uppers first. I thought both my uppers and lowers were bad but it turn out that it was just my uppers. They're alot easier to do too.

Hehe.. I know all mine are bad :-\ when Truckin Suspension was working on my truck they tore all the Ball Joint Boots and now they are all dry and have dirt in them.

I'm going to start calling some junk yards looking for some replacements just incase I can't find anything aftermarket.

I'm also in contact with a company to make some tublar upper control arms with some Moog Joints bolted to them. The cost shouldn't be much more if any then the OEM replacements.

Knobby,

I had some Uppers that I let go to crap on a POS Nissian 4x4. I hit some rail road tracks at about 40 mph and one of the ball joints became disconnected form the upper arm......not good as you can imigane.

Just wondering who are you contacting about the custom uppers w/ Moog Joints? Good Luck dude.

Trent

That fell threw they wouldn't do it for me. So I'm ordering OEM and then taking the broken ones to NAPA to see if they can match anything up.

Cross your fingers because it'd be ALOT!!! cheeper.

Knobby, the lowers for your truck should be the same for your truck as they were for mine. I have a '97 CC Dak and napa does carry the lowers but they will most likely have to order them it will take about 2-3 days to get them. by the way there kinda expensive but they are a must.

Because there is no way to replace just the ball joints. You have to replace the whole upper control arm on the 2000+'s .. for now.

Once the aftermarket stuff comes into play then we will be able to cut off the 3 studs holding on the ball joint to the control arm and replace just the ball joint. But that's not available yet.

Knobby, i hate to tell you this but you spent alot of money to fix a simple problem, remove the rivits and replace them with some high grade bolts ad lock washers when you put the new ones in. I went and got high grade bolts that are plenty strong enough to hold the ball joints, i went to Home Depot, i think i spent like $2.10 total for all the bolts, the lock washers and the nuts. Who told you the whole upper control arm had to be replaced??

Hemi .. no one has replacement balljoints. It was the '97-'99 that you could replace just the ball joint from the control arm.

NAPA is going to take a look @ the joint and see if they have something that could replace it.
