Subject: BFG or ProComp mud terrains? IP: Logged
Message: I will be buying new tires soon. Maybe rims too. Probably Eagle 589 or the new procomp rims 15x8 with 32x11.5 tires. A lot of people say the BFG's are good, but i never saw coments on the ProComps. Was wondering what peoples opinions were on the ProComp mud's. Mahalo, Kamaka

Message: Have your tried searching the archives?
I recall reading lots of posts regarding Procomp tires ... even some on the Procomp Mud tires.

Message: The Pro Comps will be a tad better on the road, especially in the rain, due to their center lugs being siped. The BFG's get the nod for better looks. Off road they should be about equal, though I suspect the BFG's might be a bit tougher and hold out a tad better for hard core off roading due to slightly better side walls. Both are good tires.

Message: I have had the BFG's and am currently now trying the Procomps. Yeah the procomps center lug is siped, but only for the first 6,000 miles, after that it's just a lug. I wore out my BFG's after 60,000 miles. So far I have 12,000 on the procomps and they are holding up well. They have handled the snow, rain, mud, and boulders as equally as well as the BFG's. It will come down to which tread lasts the longest now. If I can get 60,000 off of these I will purchase another set of the procomps (Their just as good and cheaper which makes them the better buy) again pending on how many miles I get out of them.
Peace out.

Message: I don't know if Procomp has the same offer, but all of my BFG's are covered under a $22 warrenty, which I've used and renewed on the replacements 3 times (3 different tires I've destroyed) but, they were all off-road related damages, so......

Message: I run ProComp Mud's on my little Ford ranger and have nothing but good things to say about the MT's. i have had BFG's on the same truck and liked them but Procomp has so many different configuartions of their mud tire it makes it easier to match the tire with all trucks. i run the MT's at 31x12.5 on a 15x10 unique rim

Message: Man my buddy has pro comp muds and they suck. They dont clean worth a crap. I would look more into a MT Baja Claw or a BFG KM MT. Even the new Trxus MT's are way better off road then the either bfg or pro comp.

Message: I heard they are good on the pavement and dry stuff. As soon as it gets wet, they fill up fast and dont clean. Main adv. to them is they can be bought with a higher load rating.

Message: I just bought a set of the bfg mud terrains. I love them to death! I have never tried the pro comps so I cant really comment on them. In one of the latest 4x4 magazines it rates most all mud tires and in the mud the bfgs came in just under a tsl super swamper. the biggest difference is the millege. But like I say, here in mississippi, I reccomend the mud terrain t/a's!!!
