Subject: Florida DAKs? IP: Logged
Message: I just got back from vacation in Florida. I'm from Maryland by the way. As I drove down I-95 I started looking for 4x4 Dakotas. In the last 300 miles (Florida and Georgia) out of the 1000s of vehicles I only saw 7 Dakotas (any model) and only a few Durangos. Two were older models and the only 2 Quadcabs were highway dept vehicles. While driving around the week I only saw a few more and only one was a Quadcab (2wd). When I drove out on Daytona beach, I drove the whole length and out of all the cars there was only one Dak (2wd RC) and it also had out of state tags. Around my area about 1 in 7 trucks is a Dakota, so even with mods they don't stand out a lot. It was nice to have people stop, look and point at the truck on the beach. Where are you guys hiding the Dakotas? Looks like with all the comments and stares (even from the big exhaust tip clad Hondas) they would sell more down there.

Message: jimmyc:
My dad is a Dodge dealer in Southwest GA (Pelham) and we sell a good number of Dakotas and I have contacts with other Dodge dealers around the area and they seem to sell well at those dealerships also. The thing is that around here there's not that many dakotas that are fixed up. I had a 2000 R/T fixed as a "show" truck and every where we went (even in Tallahassee, FL) we always got asked questions, and stared at a lot. However, most people down south are farmers and tend to go with the full size work trucks rather than the other...

Message: Come to Orlando, there's a ton of them here. How is it you have a 98 Dak with a 4.7? That engine wasn't offered in 98.

Message: Sorry for the type-o. Wife's truck is a forest green 00 RC w/ 4.7. My old truck was a forest green 98 RC w/ 5.2. Plan on coming back to Florida in the early Fall when I have more time to spend. I'll take a better look around then. BTW roasted a Ford Explorer Sport-Crap this morning. Seems that big exhaust tip doesn't make as much power as he thought. Thanks for the replies. Jim.

Message: No, Daks in Florida???? Come to Bradenton/ Sarasota area, i currently have the biggest Dak in Bradenton i've got about 7.5 inches of lift and 33's. Unfortunately i took my 33x15.50 Swamper S/X's off my truck and replaced them with some 33x12.50 Dunlop A/T Rovers. I always see alot of Dakotas around town, there becomingmore popular every week. it's kinda suprising.

Message: You must have blinked a whole lot cuz I am in Cocoa near the space center and we got Dakotas all over the place. We also have 3 Dodge dealers all within a 20 mile radius, 2 of them less than 10 miles away from each other. I drive I-95 everyday from North Cocoa to Melbourne and see an avg. of probably 10-15 Dakotas each time I make my 40 mile each direction trip. Have no fear, we have out share. In Rockledge, we even have a 2000 Dakota ClubCab that you could almost walk under cuz its lifted so high.
Next time I see the guy, I will get some pics and specs fro you all. It is sweet and many of you will love it.
