Message: look real clean...nice powerful V6 engine...bilstein shocks...just a real nice set-up. Surprising amounts of ground clearence...
what am i saying...it still a S-10!
It's a chevy...the S-10 styling is all but cool looking. Truck looks good on paper but not in person. If it was based only on looks, i'd give it the boot, but it does have a nice set-up everywhere else.
However, i'm not sure what transmission and transfer case they have...so i'm not totally in favor of the drivetrain and suspension yet.

Message: well, the suspensions are close. both our trucks (my dakota) have leaf in the rear, and the torsion bars for the front. except that the s-10 has spring under in the rear. should see the driveshaft on it though!! whoa man, good enough for a 1 ton!

Message: I own an 88 S-10 Baja backcountry. My truck basically the same truck as yours but with a different body. Also I build S-10s for off road racing. The truck you have is origanlly equiped with 31/10.50R15 , but turning up the front torsion bars and putting longer shackels in the rear you truck can fit 32/11.50R15 tires or 33/12.50R15 ( depending on the tire)
As for problems with the S-10s the only real problems I've run across is #1 - the Idler arm ( the steering arm on the passangers side frame rail) will go bad about every 6 months. Auto parts stores carry replacment Idler arms they run about $50 but are lifetime warranty ( takes about 20 min. to remove old and replace new. #2- are the hub bearing assemby. These go bad about once a year and are very expensive, about $300 dollars for the correct ones. However if you dont mind not having ABS in the front gut the hub bearing from a 83-91 these are the same but don't have ABS and only cost about $80, most carry a one year warranty and they can be replaced in about a half an hour.
Hope I've been some help - God I Love My S-10!!!! Jeremy

Message: I own a '94 2wd S-10 with a basic stock suspension (actually, it has the LS suspension, but big whoop). All I've done is put the leaf springs from the rear on top of the axle (gained about 2 inches after adjusting springs) and adjusted torsion bars for two inches and I have to tell you an S-10 equipped like that with some 31" mud tires will own a lot of 4wd's (yeah, I added the tires too, the stock uniroyals blew). A ZR2 S-10 will rock most 4wd's world. She did a good thing getting that S-10. I would recommend a nice extended cab S-10 to anyone. And I also own a 4wd Ranger similarly equipped and I'd take the S-10 over the Ranger any day. Light pickups rule!!!
Scott
P.S. S-10's DO look cool.

Message: I forgot to say that I had to add in the forward torsion bars because the 2wd S-10 comes with forward coil springs. Not much to that.
