Message: I spoke with a Superlift tech back in February and he said they hope to have a lift for the '01 Daks by late summer / early fall. I ran a Superlift 6" suspension lift on my '92 F150 and it was a very solid kit and gave me no problems. I'm going to hold out and wait for the Superlift kit. He said it should be a 5" - 6" lift. Soooooo, time will tell.

Message: I heard Rancho might have one late summer fall on this site, and from their tech guy around end of the year. Guess they aint sayin an exact date. I just went to my local parts guy and he thought he heard Trailmaster had one out already. Now, of course I was jumping up and down but I haven't heard back on that yet. I've emailed Trailmaster in the past and never gotten a reply, so I'll see how well this guy does. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Message: Rancho e-mailed me a week or 2 ago and said they will be releasing their 3in lift for 2000 & up Daks & Durangos around late summer or early fall. No exact date. They are fine tuning it now.

Message: Does a 3" lift really matter. I mean, can you fit much larger tires under it, or is the three inches (maybe) more clearance underneath worth the 1300 bucks to Rancho, or the stiffer ride? I guess if the lift is only 3" you would have to compliment it with a couple inches of body lift to get any functional results? I'd rather wait for the Superlift someone mentioned. Of course it is all personal preference..I aint knockin lifting or lowering, just questioning functionality/price.

Message: Well, i dont do much rock crawling, so a lift isnt that important. And i figure a 3" isnt too extreme. Mainly looks for me. I do "off-road" but its usually mudding and back country stuff.... nothing extreme, i like my '01 dak to much.. and its not paid for yet. :)

Message: The Rancho 3in lift will let you clear 33x12.50's on 15x8 rims with now rubbing. I have an article where 4wheel parts put a 3in rancho lift on a 99 Dak with 33's and it looked great. Personally, the extra ground clearance, the xtra traction from 33's and the increase in approach and departure angles is well worth the price. Off roading is a game of inches. Every in can make a diffence. A 5in lift would be great also but for me it would hurt me a little around town. I don't like body lifts on a truck thats going to be off road very much. I have seen people with them where they have eventually cut themsleves through the body. This takes time I know but its just personal pref. I just like 4x4's period (very biased now towards Daks(me) and Durangos(my wife)) and what ever one can do to fix it up the way you like it is cool. I will admit, a Dak with a 5.5 to 6in lift with 35's or 38's would look killer!

Message: I hear ya. My offroading will be limited to fire roads and some crawling, but I don't intend on crossing 100 yards of mud bog. I think the height looks nice also, and will be willing to pay for a descent lift, staying away from body lifts most likely.
Just out of curiosity, does it matter if you put the body lift on first, or the suspension lift? I know once you start going higher, you have to extend things.
Thanks,

Message: Doesn't matter which you do first. For what it's worth, driving on fire roads a lot is what pushed the body lift mounts through the body on one truck I saw. It took a while but that constant vibration on those less than smooth fire roads made the mounts slowly cut through. I'm with ya on the mud bog crossing....
