Subject: 2002 5.9 supercharger IP: Logged
Message: I'm having trouble finding a supercharger for my 2002 durango 5.9. Paxton's kit stops at 2001 for some reason. I'm not sure what changed from '01 to '02 but I cant find any blowers for my 2002 application. Does anybody have any specifics as to where I can find a blower for my 2002. Thanks!

Message: Nothing changed. They are just too lazy to update their application chart.

Message: Really! That is great news. Do you have a blower? Now I'm wondering if Vortec makes a unit? Not sure what is better Vortec or Paxton. I run a Kenne Bell on my 4.7 but they no longer make a unit for the 5.9 so now I'm on the hunt. Thanks for the reply!

Message: It's on a 2001. I bought the kit in 2002 when Kenne Bell still made them. They since discontinued the kit for the 4.7. I wish they still offered the kits but they claim sales were too small to keep the 4.7 kits available.

Message: Man, I'm not sure where to find one. The kits are pretty vehicle specific. For example the Kenne Bell computer that controls the blower actually gets wired into your factory computer. In order for the computers to work together you actually send your factory computer to Kenne Bell and they "flash" the computer and change the factory settings. This is all based on the vehicles specifics like whether you have a manual transmission or automatic, type of fuel you are running, etc. So retrofitting a used kit could be a challenge and I'm not sure where to point you to even find one since they seem rare. I would contact Kenne Bell and see what they say. As far as gains, I've never had my truck dyno'ed (even though I want to) but I will say the truck fly's! It puts many stock sports cars to shame and gives my buddy's Mustang with a roots blower a run for the money. I'm running 8#'s of boost and it spin's the tires into 2nd and chirps into third. (I have a manual tranny). Wicked fast and scary at the same time. The thing sounds like a rocket ready to blow at around 5000RPM as it pushes you back into the seat and you fight to maintain control. The truck is pretty strung out and only runs on race gas plus I have other things done to it too that contribute to it's power but it's mainly the blower that makes the thing zip.
