Anyone know what are R/T's with the 5.9 AT's are supposed to be shifting at mph.....say passing gear. If I'm at 55 mph and floor it, it downshifts to 2nd and then immediately shifts to Drive at 60 mph. That seems way too soon. If I floor it after 60 mph it doesn't downshift, it just accelerates slowly.

Hell, that's been a complaint since auto tranny's have been around!

That's why you donwshift that sucker manually if it's that bad. I've had my share of older rods, Chevy TH350's, FOrd C4's/C6's, and mopar A904/727 which I've installed shiftkits into and done mods to (govenor weight/springs), etc.

These new ones are completely computerised and you're lucky to find a PCM flash that helps.
I do have to say this new 5 speed auto in my Dak shifts better than any stock tranny I've had. And when I say better, I don't mean hard, but it shifts late when you're on it, stays out of OD longer on the hills without shifting back and forth, etc.

I just hope it stays reliable.

I have a 4.7L Auto and my 2nd gear upshifts to 3rd around 70 mph, 3rd doesn't go to OD until I let off the gas to cruise. Going 55, floor it and it downshifts to 2nd up to 70. I don't know your transmission, but mine is a 45RFE.

clean&shiny is good, mud&dirt is better
