OK....silly question maybe.....
What is the difference between a Dodge 3.9 and a Jeep 4.0? I know they are both made by Dodge. Are there any parts off the Jeep 4.0 that can be used on the 3.9 for more performance or power? I am just curious and if anyone can help...let us know.

I'm not an expert on the Jeep 4.0's but isn't that engine a straight six, where the 3.9 is a V-6.

Wouldn't want any other!

Jeep 4.0 is indeed a straight 6.

Yes, indeed,

The Jeep 4.0L is an inline six meaning all six cylinders are lined up. The 3.9L V-6 is a completely different engine (V meaning a V shape with 3 cylinders on each side forming a V shape) No parts will be interchangeable.

clean&shiny is good, mud&dirt is better

The Jeep 4.0 liter is a straight-6, and it descends from the old AMC 258 ci 6-cylinder. The 3.9 is a V-6, and it's basically a Chrysler 318 V-8 with two cylinders lopped off.
