Subject: just how fast can a c.c. r/t go?? IP: Logged
Message: the question is just how it seems...i have 5 months to research what i want to do for $5000.. i already have a cold air intake *homebrew, no less* and a 100 shot of n2o (good for a 14.598)
i am seriously, seriously considering krc's 'lightning killer'...$4000 is quite pricey though...and i also want to get a 'glass tonneau and a godfathers rollpan/hitch/flipdown..
what can be done for about $4000 to get me into the low-mid 13's??
just how fast is the fasted REALLY streetable r/t??
at what other price does performance come??? i need at least 10 mpg average, and the engine needs to make it to 100,000 (its at 40,000).
get back at me!!!

Message: Supercharge it and get a PCM flash. With the n2o you will hit 13's. You might want a shift kit too. That will help on the time as well and longevity.
I have a wimpy Powerdyne with 6# and my best is 14.2 and no n2o yet hehehe

i saw that you ran a 14.5 in another post and you gave me hell for only running my truck on the 1/8th mile. now i see that you were running a 100 shot of nitrous when you hit a 14.5!! That was about a 9.5 in the eigth right?
ouch, that's gotta suck!
ha ha just messing with you... but watch what you post dude!

Message: AFI,
Yeah I definatley think the Lightning Killer Package is worth it...I never bought it but I had bought everything on that list before he had even come out w/ it and I added up all the stuff I bought and it cost pretty damn close to what KRC has listed for prices on all the parts needed.
I have the 2.02 heads unlike my buddy who has the 1.97's but if you got the Lightning Killer Package and hooked up a 150 shot (NX kit) you'd do alot better than 12.25 (depending on how good of a driver you are).
All my R/T buddies got the Kammer & Kammer custom cam (www.kammerracing.com) since they grind them especially for racing Dakotas, but if your buying the KRC package you have to get the cam he gives you, its probably about the same anyways.

its not what you spent.... its what you have! (i am sure i will have a lot less total investment in my truck)
when i ran that i didnt have all that stuff.. just: headers, flowmaster, 1.7 rr, msd 6a, msd wires, blaster 2, coilovers, drag shocks, ladderbars, panhard bar, 150# coils, 180 thermostat, autolite 3923, slicks
i never said i was better than everyone on this board... its just you mouthed off to me about how great a 1/4 mile track is and that i needed to get down on my knees...
you have an odd way of showing respect... remember the "SS Camaro" thread?
i am sorry... i just thought a member on this site could take a joke...

the 'ss camaro thread,' i might call your attention to, WAS ONLY MEANT TO STATE THAT MIDDLE AGED LADIES HAVE A LIGHTER FOOT THAN YOUNG MALES!!!! THATS ALL I WAS SAYING!!!
also, that whole custom rear suspension you have (which is cool i might add) probably contributed a whole lot to your 60' and 1/8 mile times..dont know if you used slicks for that 8.xx pass, but for now i race on 60 series street tires...and for inquiring minds...the 14.598 was only my 2nd time on a track, and my only time using nos...since changing the jetting, im probably no higher than a 14.25 :)
i can take a joke, and im not ripping on you or your truck....like i said, props for getting a 3.9 into the 8's in the 1/8 mile...just dont take everything so dammmed personal :)

Message: Intense you say you weren't juicing your ride when you got the 8.95? Well it just doesn't make sense.
The best I've done is 9.21 in the 1/8 and that was w/o slicks so I was slipping.
2 of my buddies w/ a highly modified but still N/A RT w/ slicks ran 9.1's.
If 3 V8 R/T's w/ heads & cam work are having trouble gettin into the 8's in the 1/8, there is no way a V6 w/o juice could run that quick w/o a power adder...even if you had a perfect .500 light its still impossible.
If I misread your post when U said U were using juice then I apologize...but hey if it is true U got a 8.95 N/A, tell me when your gonna be out at Kennedale next cuz I'd sure like to see it.

Message: no it was juiced... i was just giving him hell because my truck with the same amount of juice was going faster. I know i was being an ass but i was trying to do it in good fun. Mike you would of had to seen the other posts.
I was running a 100 shot like he did and got a best of a 8.95 @ 77mph. And it didnt even hook up until about 100 ft down the track (open diff). I always wanted to get gears and a lsd before i got rid of the nitrous but i got stupid. I have the chance to get nitrous from my brother... i think i am just gonna steal it from him. when i had the 75 shot i got a best of 9.5 @80 and was shotting right off the line with the same amount of traction loss... kinda sucked
would of been cool with 4.10 gears and a limited slip.
once again afi360,
sorry dude!

It can do pretty good, If you look at the video that Duner put up of his 4.7L CC 11.36, 116 mph run you will see a 11.40, 111 mph run by the RC R/T in the lane next to him. Duner's 11 Sec Run against an R/T
I like this Video because it dispels the myth of the 5.9 R/T being faster than the 4.7L. so henceforth this is no longer a subject of controversy.
