Message: My wife and I both have 02 daks. Mine is a 4x4 and hers is a 4x2. The steering effort on my truck is a lot less than on hers. Is that a problem or just normal? It is my understanding that both trucks use rack and pinion steering.

Message: I really haven't noticed to much of a difference. You could always take it to the dealer and see if they will pressure test it. Probably just differences in valving in the racks.

Message: Should have mentioned that my 4x3 is the 4.7 v8 and her 4x2 is the 3.9. I think that my pressure is higher?!

Message: Could be but there is a spec for the pressure output.

Message: I have a question about the power steering for my truck (2001 2.5L) It seems to me that the power steering pump is a little loud to my ears. Whenever I rev the engine, I can hear the pump whining... I am not sure if it is within spec or not, but I only have 15,000 miles on it. There is no grinding noise that I would associate with a faulty pump, just the whining noise is kinda loud. I have owned several cars, and i think that this one definitely had the loudest p.s. pump.
Thanks,
Kris

Message: All you can do is take it to the dealer and get him to listen to it. Maybe they will replace it.
