Subject: LSD???? Gears???? IP: Logged
Message: hey guys, I was wanting to find out if my truck has LSD or not... I put my driver side tires on dirt and left the passenger side on concrete and floored it. The driver's side tire spun of course and so did the passenger's side to a certain extent. It kept spinning the whole time but it wasn't like a total burn out, kinda a quick hopping skreeching. Do I have LSD??? Also, how do I tell what differential gears I have??? Thx in advance......

Message: Thanx for the help Graphite, but I look in my glovebox and there are only two things in there: A sticker that says that "This vehicle is equipped with a drivers side airbag......." and one that basically says to put some weight in the back if I put a snowplow on the front. Nothing with any type of specs. Any idea where I could find these things??? Thanx in advance

Message: It must not have been listed in the glove box in 1995. Sorry! I don't know where else it could be. Some people have said that if you have a 12 bolt pattern on you rear axle than you have a 9.25 rear end which I think comes with a 3.92 gear ratio. A dodge dealer might be able to run your vin through the computer to tell you what you have or ask the person you bought the truck from.

Message: Jack up one side of your rear axle, if you can turn the tire by hand you have an open rear (no LSD).
Now to check ratio if you have a LSD rear you will have to have both rear tires off the ground. Put a chalk mark on the driveshaft and put a chalkmark on the tire and count the number of revolutions the driveshaft turns in comparison to one rotation of the tire. Close to 4 turns of the d'shaft = 3.92. Three and a half turns= 3.55. Hope this helps.
