Looks like the water pump on my 92 SLT 5.2L has gone south, squeeking and leaking.
Anyone have any tips as to how to get to it, get it off, etc? I looks like I have to pull the fan and fan shroud off to get at it.
I'd appreciate any tips.
Thanks.

Take it to your local trusted mechanic! JK

I have not replaced a pump on one of these engines but you are on the right track. A suggestion would be to inspect/change all the hoses. If they are the originals they have been on there a while and could possibly ready to call it "quits". Thermostat and a flush...

If you need any specifics from a 1999 FSM I could look it up for you. I won't be able to respond until after the weekend, though.

not a bad job, but new not reman. rent or buy a set of fan clutch tools to hold the pump to get the fan off. there is a little steel pipe, goes is drivers side of pump for heater core return, it bolts in and has a o-ring, get a new one from napa for 8 bucks, they usually wont come out cause corrosion around o ring, even if you on't need it, you can take it back. and lastly, the 1'' bypass, pump to front of intake, kind off pain is ass to get spring clamp off, but doable. go with modains suggestion, a thermostat is a good idea, napa has stainless 'super stats' i've never had one fail yet, just ask them for one. hope this helps(a couple of beers will too:)
