Subject: softer leaf springs IP: Logged
Message: Hello, I have a 98 dakota sport R.C, 4X2, 3.9, 3.55. My truck (used) came with 31x10.5 tires and a super stiff rear leaf springs. It has about
8 inches between the top of the tire and the
fender. The front has about 4 inches of space between the tire and fender. I want to lower
the back about 4 inches. Can I just replace the
leaf springs with new softer ones?
I have 15 inch wheels whats a good tire size 235 50 15R? I want my truck to sit like a RT.

Message: ok, first of all if you want your truck to sit like an r/t you will be forced to drop the truck. even mildly. the 31 inch tyres you have on it will have to go (you shoud sit on some 17s for it to look decent. if you have the cash for the drop and new tyres and rims, onothing should stop you. a 2' 4' drop should suit you fine. (31" tyres are for 4x4s)

Message: I recently resprung my 2000 Dakota R/T, ride was
way too rough, got tired of it so researched
changing the springs. OEM Moog 80866 were 844
lbs/inch the ones I replaced them with were Moog
586 433 lbs/inch, also installed new rubber
isolators, cut one turn off bottom of spring, ride
height is same clearance in fenders front and
back.
