 Subject: hitting back bumpstops

I see everyone has either a 3, 4, 5 inch drop in the back does anybody hit the bumpstops. I have a 2/4 inch drop from belltech with nitro drop shocks. And everytime i go somewhere i hit a bump and the back hits. any ideas or answers.

You need to install a c-notch to give the axle more clearance.
You'll have to cut (or have cut) a space into the frame where the bumpstops are above the axle... Then weld the c-notch into the space you cut.

if u just have a four inch drop, and don't plan on going lower, & if u dont hit the bumpstops all the time or arent sitting on them; I'm pretty sure u can just get away with simply taking the bumpstop out. It is HUGE, so if u take it out, u should have plenty of space.

I'm planning on a 3/5" drop along with some other mods, and I am gonna need a c-notch...

The bump stops are the ones that came with the kit. I'm going to try the smallest ones then I'll go from there. If anyone else has an idea pass it down.

I have a 5" rear drop (DJM Shackles and hangers) with the djm bump stops, i have had no problems at all with hitting the bump stops. Maybe you could order the djm bump stops and put them on... they are only like 1/2" tall but i havent touched them yet and i have a quad cab so i have alot of weight back there.

I had a 3/5 on my '98 CC, and I too thought that I was bottoming our on the frame, but when I pulled the kit in favor of Air Ride, I noticed that it wasn't hitting the frame at all. It was the sway bar bracket on the rearend housing hitting my exhaust. There were no marks on the frame or rearend housing from contact, but the "exhaust-hump" that goes over the housing had marks and scratches on it...and so did the sway bar bracket. You may want to look at that before you C-notch your frame.
I've never heard of a 4" drop hitting the frame, but I could be wrong.

I'm with CASDAK. w/ just 4", it'd be worth checking out if something else is hitting, other than the frame on the axle.good thinking.

speedbumps.i will try them,before i go to the trouble of a c notch.

When i put in the kit. I was hitting the exhaust. It was laying on the pipe. I went in and had my 3 inch exhaust rebend out of the way. I know its the frame. Because i only have about there inches from the bumpstops to the differtial. Some person told me that it could be the sway bar angle.

You really don't have to replace your bumpstops. What I did was "trim" the bumbstops in the rear. Probably about 1 inch should give a little more clearence.
...I still am amazed that a 4" drop is hitting the frame.
To me that sounds like a 5" or 6" drop for your rear.
I'm going to assume that the truck was lowered by a shackle and hanger kit...so has anyone removed any additional springs in the rear?
I wouldn't think that would actually cause the problem, but it's worth looking in to.
Maybe the overload spring is gone, causing a "softer" spring rate in the rear and leading to the housing smacking the frame.
I'm at a loss...

I installed the system myself. I change both brackets that holds the leaf springs that are connected to the chassis and put in the angle shims for the diff. I got the kit from JC Whittney. Which when i order the kit said a 2/4 inch. Unless the company made a mistake. If anyone has a 2/4 or 3/5 what are the measurements from the center of the wheelwell to the center of the wheel.check my site to see how low it is.
