Hey guys-
I need some suggestions on how to eliminate the squeaking of my lower control arms on my 2001 Dak. I have the Western Chassis arms with 1" drop springs. After I lube them via the control arm grease fittings, they are quiet for a few days and then the squeaks resume (both sides). Thanks for any and all suggestions.

all aftermarket suspensions come with polyurythene bushings. they work great and putup the the abuse of being lowered very well, better then any factory rubber bushings would. the only draw back is that they sqeak. usually not that bad though. check to make sure it not a ball joint or shock or something. you can replace the urethane bushings in the aftermarkets parts with rubber bushings because the diameter of the new part is usually slightly different, not by much. but you still cant do it. that 1/8 inch of play you would have in the control arms bushing will translate into 3/4 of an inch out by the wheels, not a very good thing. no alignment and front end will sound like its falling apart on a bumpy road. i grease the hell out of my bushing every 2 weeks and the sqeaking is a bare minimum. you usually dont here anything.

Thanks to everybody for the suggestions. Sounds like I am going to get very familiar with greasing the A-arms every couple of weeks. That's what I did recently and, so far, things are still quiet...

The "engineer side" of me tells me there has got to be a better fix for this. I am considering getting a set of lower A-Arm bolts and machining narrow, shallow (.002-.003) spirals into the shank of the bolt to facilitate greater dispersion of the grease thoughout the entire length of the bushing. Would have to be careful about removing too much shank surface area but, what the hell, it would be a great "science project"!!
