u need new shocks when you lower it, cuz by lowering your truck, you are decreasing the distance between the two places where each shock is mounted. Sooooo, the shocks are compressed more, so it rides different and could bottom out (& mess up) the shocks. drop shocks are shorter, so they make up for this. Hope this helps.

If you are going all out for the full hotchkis drop and sway, you have got to get their custom tuned bilsteins. Your drop will have been in vain if you do not get these. I drove my truck dropped with the oem shocks for a few days. The difference to the Bilsteins were night and day.

Ordered mine (2/3) yesterday. Had the same question, but I will have to heal up a little before I change the shocks. Thanks for the info.

Oh yeah, how do the Toxic Shocks compare to the Bilstine shocks? Has anyone out there ran with these shocks, and if so, what do you think? What other shocks are out there, the Bilstines are like $80 a pec. to my understanding, i saw the Toxic ones for i beleave $35 ea. Thanx in advance ya'll

well, i personally like my deutsch tech, which are about the same price as the toxics, but what i do know about Toxic shocks is that half the insanely nice trucks in magazines have them; including Shaq's bagged escalade; so if they (especially shaq, who could afford solid gold, diamond-studded shocks) use toxics, they must not be too bad; especially for the price.
