Message: Ok, I have been thinking of setting up my 99 with a four link and bags in rear and stock sus up front but with bags. But I also dont want to lose any performance at the track. Is this possible, I dont know? I know four links are great for tracton, but am concerned of poor handeling rumors I have heard about with bags. I sure the answer is simply a matter of tuning, but would like to hear some real world experance.

Message: Bags can handle great, but u need shocks all around. It's not much more money if you have enough for bags, but the only set back is that when you relocate the shocks in the front, you can't turn the wheel all the way to either side without the shocks hitting the inside of your rims; u can't make u-turns. The back aren't a problem to relocate, and I've heard that it handles ok with just shocks in the back, but i'm not sure. I know that it rides like sh*t without shocks, and very nice with all four.

Message: Look into Shockwaves, the shock is built into the center of the bag, so you don't lose your turning radius.

Message: tru... another way to go, but they're like what, $500 a set?!!!! If u got the money, that would prolly be the best way to go, I wonder how those shockwaves ride? Anyone know from experience? I know if i had the money, that's what i'd go with.

Message: I have Shockwaves on the front of my '98 Club Cab. I honestly have to say they ride really good. These are a simple install...but make sure that you trim around the bottom of the spring pocket on the frame. In fact go ahead and trim the lip, and the bump stop "striker" on the frame. This will give an enormous amount of clearence for the bags.
I installed mine myself, and the instructions stated that some trimming would be necessary, but obviously I didn't trim enough. Almost a year later, I had to replace my front Shockwaves...and they aren't cheap. These are from Air Ride Technologies at $850 a pair. That smacked the wallet hard. I really would have liked to have seen pictures from an install or something a little more indepth than "...some trimming will be necessary." Love those instructions!

Message: Your questions about riding smooth, well if you want a great ride, begin with the rear, do not place your bags right above axle, it rides ok on axle, but you'll be suprised how much better it is closer to cab. Go with a catapilar setup,or a 4link that sets your bags else where, it will give you a much better ride. If you have any questions, go to my shopsite. www.overdosecustoms.com and join forums.

Message: My front is bagged, and I am getting ready to do the back. As far as handling goes, bags aren't for racing. Just imagine going 100 mph and you right front slamming to the ground cause a bag popped or something else like a line. Not good. And, if you are going to do bags, don't be cheap! I know it is really cool and all, but the fact is if you get a cheap setup, it will suck and you will have problems. It is better to save your money and do it right the first time than spend twice as much the 2nd time around. I am building a complete 4 link for my rearend. the mono-leaf will work, but will also break the leafs with time. If you want pics of my front install email dubkota@aol.com just my $.02

Message: I have my truck bagged with a Pete and Jakes Parallel 4-link in the rear and relocated shocks all the way around. I am using Firestone 2600# bags and my handling is outstanding. I love the traction and can't beat the ride. Take a look at my truck on these websites:

Nice setup man. I like the rack for the tanks and compressors. What front c-arms are you running? Are those custom fab'd or did you buy em? I just have the stock lowers on mine now and doesn't lay as low as I would like. Thanks for any info.

Message: I was not so concerned with a smooth ride, but more with loosing traction. But as far as installiation goes, I can do that myself. But to be truthfull, I am not real familar with air bags. I have been searching through the mags for complete 4 way FBSS kit but I am not sure what companies are quality or crap. If I am shelling out 2-3K for a kit it better be quality. But at the same time, I dont want the tanks( I plan to turn my bed-sides into tanks) or the billet compressors( I plan on hiding the system as much as possible, so hopefully the tanks will not be seen.) If anyone can recommend any good companies/ books on air bag suspension.

Message: Dustin
If you're just looking for a kit...that's a bolt-on, call Air Ride(or go to www.ridetech.com). You can buy the kit(s) separate from all the electronics, tanks, or compressors.
Actually, I wish I had all my Air Ride Kit off of the truck, I'd be willing to sell it to someone. Although I would want to sell it as a whole deal...not just pieces at a time.

Message: Your gonna have to get your rear end narrowed to tuck unless you got your wheels made to tuck. As for front it depends on what size tire you are running and how much camber you have laid out. You might be fine, you might have to remove part of your fender where the tire hits. Hope that helps. Message: I wanna lay my 98 reg cab dakota on the frame but i have no idea what company to go with or really what all is involved. I have it lowered with a Bell Tech kit and IT SUCKS DONT BUY THEIR CRAP. I have 17 x 9's off of a 2004 R/T. I've looked at Air Ride and they want 2500.....ouch. I can do it but I think Firestone would be cheaper and just as good. Am I gonna need a fuel cell or can I keep my oem tank. Do I need anything to correct camber in the front? What four-link should I use? And what's this I hear about relocating shocks? Do I need to by a relocation kit for my shocks too.....I thought air bags were used alone! anyone with detailed info please email me at cardinalbb@vfa37.navy.mil
