I work for a metal fabrication shop and my friends and I just got real big into custom trucks. After one of my friends bought a C-notch, I figured I could make them a whole lot cheaper than what he paid for it.
After figuring the prices, I need to see how many people would be interested in them so I can at least get started on a few.
They would be laser cut out of 1/4" thick steel with 1/2" bolt holes to bolt in--or plug weld the holes and weld the sides in for strength. It should give about 3 1/2" of extra travel.
The price would be somewhere around $40. The more people that are interested, the lower the price will go.
If anybody is seriously interested, let me know and I will build a few sets and take pics. I will also give a definate price.

Oh hell yeah! I'm definitely interested. I always wondered how companies could charge sooo much damn $ for a piece of metal. But how much u think shipping would be, since they're kinda heavy. Let me know how they turn out.

OK, I just crunched the numbers. The price will be $40. We'll just say $10 for shipping. These things are pretty heavy. (1/4" thick steel isn't light at all) Anyways, you'll be hard pressed to find a deal better than this. Not just cause I say so, these things aren't as cheap as some people think to make. Anyways, I'm getting 10 kits done next week, so if you want one, let me know. If anybody needs pics, I'll try to get some after I get the first ones done.

OK. Sorry to keep everyone waiting, but these things are taking longer than I thought to get laser cut. I would do it another way, but laser cutting is the easiest way to work with thicker metals. But they are IN THE WORKS. I was told they would be ready this week, but it will probably be Monday or Tuesday at the earliest. As soon as I get them, I will weld up a few and take pics.

can someone explain to me exaclty what c-notches are????? what their purpose is?
i know you need to use them when you drop the back alot. but how do you install them???? i dont really get it.

When you lower the back of a truck, the axle sits closer to the frame. So if you load it -- or hit any small bump like my friend's S10 -- you are more prone to hitting the bumpstops. A C-Notch is a metal plate that reinforces the section of frame above the axle, and allows you to cut out part of the frame for more axle clearance. Most of them are bolt on, but most people prefer to weld them in for peace of mind.

also, will this fit on my 97 reg cab 2wd dakota sport? and how do u install a c notch- do u have to cut off the stock frame to install the new one? and to handle the extra clearance, do i have to cut out some of the bed? thanks alot
