Subject: Got my 2" blocks... A few questions.

OKay, they seem pretty simple to put in. But is there anything special I need to know, such as, do the bolts need to be torqued to a certain amount?

I am pretty limited in the amount of tools I have here. It's obvious I'll need some jack stands, and I can get ahold of them easily. And I can also get ahold of a torque wrench, I have several neighbors that are rich with automotive tools. So when I put the bolts on, what should they be torqued to?

Eh, NM, I found out... 100lbs/ft. Only problem now is, I have no sockets that reach the bolts.

well your gonna need 2 jackstands and your gonna need something to hold the axle, i think you'll a 1/2 inch socket, and you might wanna throw some wedge plates in there so your pinion angle ins't messed up, do you have drop shocks? although you're only going 2 inches you might not need them. i dont know what kind of blocks they are, are they angled? that might determine if you need the wedge plates. you got you're u bolts right? hopefully it not a b*tch workin under there.

I got em from Pep Boys for 29 bucks. The kit came with 2 blocks (not angled), new U-joints, and bolts and washers. The instructions just say to lift the truck from the back with a jack until the tires barely contact the ground, then position some jack stands, and then disconnect the shocks from the axle and remove the factory U-joints, then jack up the axle and drop the blocks between the leafsprings and the axle on each side; there's a little peg that is supposed to fit into the hole in the center of the leafsprings where it will sit... Hope it'll fit:(

After the blocks are in, lower the axle back down and put the new u-joints on and then reconnect the shocks to the axle and then lower it. It seems pretty simple.

I got everything I need: the jackstands, torque wrench, a nice heavy-duty jack, and of course the blocks.

You can get away with 1 jack stand. Put the stand on one side, take the wheel off. You don't need to unbolt the shock absorber like it says. Take the U bolts off. The u-bolts in the kit are a tad to short at the top, You will need some large plyers to pinch them together to make them fit into the kit. once you have the 2 bolts on, jack up the drum, and you will see room created between the bottom of the bracket and the axle. Put the blocks in, make sure the holes ar elined up and let the axle down. Then torque them down.

chris, I believe you're supposed to have to pinch U-bolts together slightly. That's how all U-bolts I've ever messed with are made.

Well, I have taken and put the factory u bolts on and off a couple of times. No pinching needed for them. I went to 4 wheel parts and they had a u-bolt bender. I took the stock u bolt and they bent the other set to match. Made it muche easier.
