Subject: lowering..., best kit for the $$$???? IP: Logged
Message: im going to be getting a 2003 CC R/T in a few months and the first thing i want to do is lower it.i am looking for a 3"F and 4"R drop (or something close to that) i do NOT want my tires to wear un-evenly
i have read about a few kits (Hotchkis, DJM, Belltech) what is the best kit for the $$$$ ?? i read the Hotchkis is great, but i think its a bit expensive.
but what about the other kits? anyone have any experience with them?
any problems?
do your tires wear evenly???
how much did the kit cost you?? (with new shocks)

Message: KovzR6,
I am not sure if you want a total 3/4 drop or an additional 3/4 drop on top of the 1 inch drop(4/5)the R/T come with? Your R/T's front stock tires will rub and hit the top of your fender flares with a 4/5.
For a total 3/4 drop all you need is 2" a-arms and 3" hangers or blocks. I don't know if they make a 3" hanger kit but you could go with a 2" hanger kit and one inch STEEL block. There are a few different ways to achieve your goal but that depends on money and preference. For performance go Hotchkis, but for comfort go with DJM.

Message: TED the ass can ride a little rough if you hit a pothole or large bump, but what lowered vehicle doesnt do that ? The truck handles great ! No body roll, turns and handles awesome. And it also helped traction to, i can still light up the tires but not quite as easy as before.

Message: Guys, the 3" blocks.. are they a universal fit?
I have a set of BellTech's from nearly new from a 90 Mazda I had, will they work if I get the longer U-bolts? Do they need to be shaved to an angle or something?

Message: I'm gonna lower my 2001 R/T but i was wondering if this will void my factory warrantee.I spoke with a couple of dodge dealerships and they said the driveline has to be at a certain angle and possibly shortened or it could damage the transmission. Also is there a computer for the 2001 R/T?I've seen computers for the 2000 whats the difference

Message: I just ordered the hotckis 2 inch lowering coils and the 3 inch lowering leafs for my 99 SLT. I have the R/T 17 inch rims with Kumho 255/55R17s. I have seen many with this set up and got the chance to ride in one and it felt great. Just as everyone said the ride is stiffer but in my opinion it really handles. You won't regret the Hotckis set up if you don't mind spending the cash on it.

Message: try www.streetbeatcustoms.com thats where I got my lowering kits. I got DJM 3" to the front and 5" to rear. you will need an offset wheels for that though. if not, your tire will rub your front front fender. I didnt get the offset wheels on mine but I got 18" wheels with 45 series tires.

Message: Spring Tech 3/4 drop on ebay for $275. Me and my brother put it on in 5-1/2 hours, but he is ASE certified and knows his stuff. Also had use of shop where he works with lift and all the tools. Would take longer and be a headache to do it yourself, but it is one of the cheaper kits and the truck rides great.
