Message: C'mon now, Eric....
I bet there'll be people who'll say "Western Chassis are cheap.... use Hotchkis".
I've never heard anything bad about DJM yet, but if you were to talk about Chassis Tech........
If you know of anything particularly shocking about DJM, I wish you'd tell me soon, since I'm supposed to have DJM components put on this week at Master Image. Didn't they do your suspension?

Message: all i know is back when the new style chevy trucks came out i was in "dealers sport truck" in los alomitos and the owner of the shop said he wanted to lower his new chevy, but would not use DJM because of the design of the A-arm. at the time, DJM was the only company that made a 4/6 kit for the truck, so the owner was going to wait untill a differant company came out with a kit. Being that they do drops, 'bagging, lifts, and suspencion tuning (for better cornering) i went with their recomindation.
i have'nt really looked at the DJM stuff for the dakotas, so i dont know what it looks like compaired to the western kit. What i do know though is i have had my kit for almost 3 years and have had no problems at all, so if some one wants to go with hotchkis and spend the extra cash for a stiffer ride... well its there money.
yea MIC did my install. took them 2 days. 1 to get my ball joints out and the other to do the rest of the truck ;-) im glad i didnt tackle that project. they just bagged one of my club members accord. it came out AWSOME!
let me know when its done

Message: Which kit from Western Chassis are you guys running? I don't want a whole lot of drop so I was looking at Hotchkis for 2/3, but the shocks alone are $85 each!!!! Do you guys have any pics of the 2/4 drop from Western Chassis?? I have a heavy tonneau cover on the back so the rear will probably be too low with a 2/4.

Message: Kota on 20's you just had to say Fiero.
In 1986 I actually bought one. At 500 miles a bolt came loose and ALL the oil drained out. It left me stranded in the worst part of Chicago with a blown engine. They rebuit the engine but the heads must have been worped cuz oil would drip on the belt>>chewed up belt. Well it seems that on a fiero the ONLY way to change the belt was to remove the engine from the car! I wish I had gotten a lawyer I put up with that piece of crap for two years! I prayed for it to burn!!!

A-arms on their dak by themselves? If so, how was
the install? I'm looking to do it with a couple of

2" a-arm and 1"coil with Hotchkis leafs in the
rear and new sway bars front and rear. Any input
would be great.

Message: i've got some experience with belltech, but it was on a chevy S-10. the only problem i had was it looked like the spindles had been pulled of the mold too quick and i had to shave them down some to get them to fit right. Other than that the kit wasnt too expensive and dropped the truck 4 in the front and 5 in the rear and gave it great handling.

Message: I own a '98 Dakota Sport with a big torquen 2.5l and I was wanting to ask you guys for any input on lowering it. Like if I will have to put in a c-section? What is the lowest I can go with some 18's? And one more....could the regular person do a drop?

Message: I have mine @ 3-6 w/o a C-section, I cut off an
inch from the bump stops...so far, so good,
and I have to drive on these pothole infested
LA streets everyday. C-section is something I
have avoided on both my 98 s-10(trade in for
dak) and my dakota, I dont believe that cutting
the frame on the truck is very safe. I have
seen a few trucks where the frame has folded,
after being rear ended. If you are gonna show
your truck, cut it, tag it, and bag it, but if your
gonna be driving it everyday, think safety first.
Any regular person with minor mechanical
experience plus the right tools, can do a drop.
If you are worried about your mechanical
expertise, take it to your local custom shop,
most shops warranty the work, so if anything
goes wrong, parts or otherwise, its fixed for
free. The only bad thing is they charge you an
arm and a leg.

Message: i have seen trucks actually break in half because the guy doing the notch didnt know what he was doing.
i have also seen a truck get rearended so bad that the frame bent...before the notch, and the notch held up better than the frame.
i have had mine for 3 years with no problems, and i know at least 100 other people with step-notches on their daily drivers with no problems
just take it to a reputable shop

teamfast, get some shackle hangers, they drop the rear 2" and if you want 3" add a 1" block
