 Subject: Do all you guys have a notch?

I have a 2000 reg. cab with a 4.7 and I want to lower it 2/4. Will four inches in the rear require a c-notch? What about the use of sway bars after you drop the truck? I know I should just get my butt outside and measure everything out, but I figured most of you guys have already been through this.

I did a DJM 3-5 drop on my 01 extended cab. It was not neccesary to do any notching on the rear frame rails. I also kept the factory sway bars on and the truck handles alot better than it did. The DJM kit was front coils and rear shackles and hangers with Toxic Shocks all the way around.

Did you just shorten the bumpstops? No bottoming out or anything? What size tires do you have? I am putting 18" MB Motoring Precise wheels on mine with either a 255/50 or 55 series tire. Thanks for the reply...

You only have to c-notch if you are going 6 or more in the back. Remove rear bumpstops. Do a 2/5 or 3/6 if you want the front an back to be level. I have 245/45-19 with a 3/6 drop and it works good but I should of got 245/40-19. I do have a c-notch (DJM).

with a 2/4 you proably should trim the bump stops or put the ones on that should come with the kit you are getting, i got a 5/5 and just cut my back bump stops in half and i have about 2 inches of room befopre the back end hits the bump stops

My 2000 is notched but i have a 3-5 drop. It was so needed because i was frame banging on every little bump it hit. I would suggest it it's cheat and well worth it.

but if u got a r/t there 1 inch lower thasn stock trucks, which would make it a 6 rear drop meaning u would need a c-notch i know i would if i had 1 more inch in the back, got a 5/5

You may not need it but if your truck rides anything like mine did you will defenatly want the notch. It is also cheap (under 200$) you won't risk hurting your axle on a big bump in the road.

i seriously dont think 255/50's or 55's will work on 18's with a 4" drop in the rear, those tires are gonna be tall....your tires may hit your fenders before the axle hits the bumpstop and bend your fenders all up, id go with no more than a 255/45 with a 4" rear drop....or get taller bumpstops.

I got a 2/4 from belltech.Ride is good but on big bumps. the back bottoms out, I have about 2 inches of space. Have the bump stops form the kit. My 255/45/18. I had the 255/55/18 they were to tall.

Doesn't the almighty "intense 99 dak"(Chuck) have 255/55/18s and a 2/3 drop? That thing looks killer...There's not much space at all between the rear fenders and the tires...
