Subject: lowering + towing ? IP: Logged
Message: Hi all,
I want to drop my truck 2/4 but still need to tow a car trailer + car (obviously). Any suggestions?
I have a 2K sport 2wd 4.7
Would I need some air bags, or spring helpers...?

Message: I guess you'll probably have to get the frame c notched 2 inches that should solve your problem.

Message: the simple fix with that is the air helper springs take a few hours to install but the truck will keep its towing capacity and never sag. also has an awsome ride quality.

Message: Towing Dropped is not a real problem. I towed a 16' trailer and a RX7 with my 1996 Nissan XE King Cab lowered 2". I plan on towing the same thing again with my 2"x3" Dropped Dakota. The key is the tonge weight, keep it down and towing should not be a problem.

Message: So basically...with the car on the trailer, keep it farther back, so it doesn't press so much on the front and weigh the back of the truck down...?
I still have to get a hitch installed, but this is all in my plan..i was even thinking of one of those Hidden Hitches...keep it a nice clean appearance....don't know...all things to consider...
Thanks for the input guys.

Message: Check into the Roadmaster Active Suspension. If you do a search on this site you will find nothing but good things about their product. I just talked with a guy from Roadmaster today on the phone, I didn't get a name, but he was a hoot to talk to. If you have any questions, just call them up! They'll fix ya.

Message: did you just use lowering and towing in the same sentence?
and towing a trailer with a 2" drop compared to a 4" drop is a big difference.....i have a 5/5 and have roughly 2in. of room from my trimed bump stop......so with a 4in drop and a trimed bump stop you'd have roughly 3in. you hook a trailer on there your riding the bump stops....i sit 150lbs in my bed and i ride the bump stops
if you want to tow i'd get the hotchkis 2/3 like mark said...but as i recall that kits expensive

Message: I did use them in the same sentence.. is that a mortal sin or what?... :0)
I want my truck to have a sweet look and handle awesome, but I want to still be able to tow my car to the track on weekends....not every weekend...only a few during the summer...
I'll have to figure also carrying a bunch of weight in the back for winter driving..not in addition to the car trailer but as a constant load through the winter....
Where can I find info on that hotchkis system?
