Subject: Hotchkis need shocks? IP: Logged
Message: I'll be the first to admit that I know very little about suspension and lowering kits. I decided not to do a lift and go with the Hotchkis 2/3 drop. What I need to know is, do I have to get special shocks for this or are the stock ones fine? Eventually I'd like to put new shocks on it. Any recommendations for good shocks for a 2/3 drop?

Message: The stock ones are ok for temporary use, but you might bottom out some -- 'specially in the front. When I was running around with my stock shocks it had an odd effect when hitting bumps and general driving. It was like it wasn't reacting fast enough. Hotchkis sells some custom valved Bilstein shocks for their kit. The shocks are a bit pricey, but are well worth the money and you will not be dissappointed in them. I really like the sway bars myself.
All this Hotchkis talk lately has got ya hooked eh?

Message: Well, I'm not really familiar with other companies and I've heard good things about Hotchkis. I was going to put a lift on the truck, but that didn't make much sense considering I rarely go off the road. I really got the bug to lower the truck when I was mad that I couldn't take a few corners faster. Hotchkis isn't a done deal. I'm only going with them because I don't know much about other companies and the quality of their products. I want to put sway bars on as well. I want my truck to stick to the ground like it's on rails!

Message: Hotchkis + roadmaster will do that for ya.
I'm thinking next year I want to get one of those Kenny Brown x-braces I've been hearing a lot about.
Body mounts also need to be changed. Those things are so squishy. Everytime I am under my truck I am sitting there poking at the mounts. Damn things are made of old Gak.
