Message: The sticker is, but the shocks are not. For reassurance, there is a picture of them on the rear sway bar installation manual.
It confused me at first too.

Message: yea I saw that but, Bilstien said they are supposed to have the boot down so water couldn't end up on where the piston goes in to the cylnder. The water drains off that way. But the also said it really doesnt mater unless you are driving through puddles all the time as in 4X4ing.

Message: Are you sure? All shocks I have ever installed wanted the boot up to prevent water from getting inside it. Most pictures I've seen are like that too. I drive thorough snow half the year, so this is of interest to me.

Message: Hey, im still planning on getting the hotchkis setup for my truck, but i do not have the money untill probably summer time. In the meantime i have to buy new tires. The winters where i live are pretty wet, so im gonna keep my 15's for winter driving and buy some other rims(probably 17's) for the summer time. I will want to use the winter tires next year and not have to replace them after i lower the truck. Should i stick with 235/75/15 or will those rub with the 2 inch drop. should i go with 235/70/15 instead, or will that be too much space inbetween the wheel well?? Is anyone running the hotchkis kit with the stock 15 inch rims??
xplikt, i know yours are the 16 inch rims, but what size tires do you have on there, and what is the diameter of your whole wheel? thanks, i need to buy new wheels soon, but i dont want to buy ones that will rub or be to much space for next winter when my dak is lowered!! Thanks for all your help everyone!

Message: I think my entire wheel diameter is 28 or 29 inches, I really can't remember. My front driver's side rubbed a tad on the edge of the tire. The fender lip was actually cutting into the tire about 2-3mm on the very corner of the tire. Created a nice lil slit ring on the tire. Yeah, UH OH, can't live with that. So, I sent an email to Hotchkis and I got a reply back with pictures on how to fix this. You can view the email and pictures here:

I know, it's a bit draconian, but it works great. No more problems.
If you go with something like 27" you will have no problems at all. Probably wouldn't even have to beat the hell out of your fender.

Message: Hey xplikt, thanks for the info. Not to sound picky or whatever, but i was wondering if you would be able to either measure your diameter of your wheel, or just tell me the measurements of your tire? I can figure out the diameter myself then. The look of your truck is the way i want it, i really like the height with the amount of wheel space you have, if you do you have 28", i will go with 28" as well. Thanks though eplikt.

Message: The tires are P255/65R16s (the ones included in the SLT+ tire and handling package). Online tire calcs say these are 29" and that sounds right. The R/T is the one that is 28". I was confusing the two.
You also have to remember the width too. I wonder what would happen if I went to 9" wide rims -- like the R/T -- if I would bump the fender again. I have no idea what would happen, but keep that in mind when you buy your wheels.

Message: xplikt - FYI Your shocks are on correctly. I had mine on with the boot down & the ride was horrible, no give at all when going over small bumps. I reversed them last night and corrected the problem. It now rides almost a well as stock with the added bonus of better handling and looks.
Does the roadmaster system help with the ride quality as well as thw handling?
Tks - Steve

Message: SHarper, I can't say that I noticed a difference in ride quality from Hothckis suspension with and without the Roadmaster, because I installed them at the same time.
I can tell you I do not bottom out in the rear. I have tried. The entire rear end is super stiff and is pretty easy to break loose. I actually think I need to stiffen up the front some to even it out.
I can throw bags of sand back there for winter without my truck sagging. I have sand back there for 1/3 of the year, so that was important to me.
It's a kind of odd feeling on speedbumps though. I have this sort of thud, like I was dropped like a brick into soft dirt. It's not like I bounce over them or anything like that, it's like I just come right off it and there's no aftermovement. Just goes thud.
