Subject: Actual difference with R/T coils?
IP: Logged

Message:
Has anyone measured the actual drop which occured when replacing stock coils with the R/T coils?

I have read that the difference is 1".

I am going to try R/T coils on my 2001 5.9 QC and am wondering if I will get a full inch or less than an inch drop.

Does anyone have a guess as to the cost to have the coils installed?

I will be doing a "trial and error" with the coils as I am running 275/45/20s. So far, with the stock suspension, I have had no rubbing. Going an inch lower may be too much, though!!

If the front will go an inch lower, I am going to lower the rear 2". If the front has to stay stock, I can lower the rear only 1" and still stay level.

Thanks for any input.

The 275/45/20s work good so far!! (I have 5 1/2" back spacing on my 20"s)

I went to the Dealer today and got an estimate of $300 - $325 labor to install my coil springs, shocks, rear shackles and alignment. I am getting coils for $60, shackles for about $90 and shocks for about $280.

Grand total for a 1/2 drop = about $750!!!!!!!!

I hope it works. If not, It will cost me another $325 to get back to where I was!!!!!!!

Wouldn't that be fun to spend $1075 and have your truck exactly like it was before you started????

Dakaty you need to find a drop shop they will do it cheaper than that. I paid $550. for the same thing you are doing.

I'll look around some more. I would rather have a drop shop do it rather than the Dealer. I have found that the Dealers are real good at OEM repairs, but not so good at the custom stuff.

Did your cost of $550 include parts and alignment?

BTW, have you received payment for the springs yet?

Bill

It was $550.00 parts and labor and $30.00 for the alignment somewhere else.

Havent gotten the check, but I will be packaging the springs tonight.

sounds about right nitro, a shop was going to charge me $550 for my 3/5 drop, ended up doing it myself, cost me $570 with alignment.....they charged an extra $50 for the alignment, so i only ended up savin $30.......and the kit they were going to use would of actually droped me 3/5(belltech)....instead of the 2/6 i got right now(djm)....

RT 5.9 club cab coils will actually raise the front of a 4.7

Do a seach for "Lemmers and RT coils" for the rest of

Ya I came across your post in the search i did before but another guy on another forum did get about an inch drop from putting r/t coils on his 4.7 extended cab, so i really don't know what to think, I would think it would be the opposite, because qc's are heavier i would think yours would go down and his would go up? This is confusing, I don't want to cut springs but I don't want to go as low as hotckis either. What's a guy to do?
