Subject: How much to drop? IP: Logged
Message: How much should I drop my '97 Dakota SLT CC if I got the stock tires and I just want to lower it a little and make it look good and fit better around the tires? I am thinking maybe 2/4...
Also, what is a good brand lowering kit to buy, and how much am I looking to pay if I go buy it in person?

Message: I am very pleased with the Hotchkis drop on my 2k dak, club cab. front drop 2 inche springs, rear springs 3 inch drop. approx 400.00 shipped to your door. I feel this is the best out there, too many bad things happen with the dropped front control arms, welds are crap. Springs no probs. www.hotchkis.net

Message: Also, do the Hotchkis parts come with good instructions? I plan on putting parts 1913F and 2406 (2" front and 3" rear drops) on myself, and will get the shocks at a later date (save up more money) then the sway bars...

Message: Anyone looking for the best prices on Hotchkis stuff should call Randy Pile at World Wide Performance Parts at 727-367-7453. He significantly beat the Hotchkis on-line part prices.
I am very happy with my Hotchkis setup and I highly recommend it. It's quality for ride and handling, but not cheap.

Message: I just ordered my Hotchkis Kit from Jonas Janek at Premeir Automotive. He is selling them for awesome deal too. His service is also hard to beat! I can't wait to put my suspension on. Now I might be able to keep up a little better at the SOLO II track.

Message: Depending on how much your time is worth and how many tools you own, the installation is not too terribly bad. The swaybars are a breeze. You can get home from work, have dinner, and finish them before dark. The Leafs I would do with a buddy on a Saturday only because they are not light and can be a lengthy process without air tools. However, the front springs I reccomend a shop because they were the cause of much grief for me.
The only part that might cause you troubble is the slight frame modifications you must do for the front sway bar. Without a grinder and drill (or air hammer with chisel tip) you're SOL and I wouldn't attempt it.
The rear sway has no modifications, no special tools, no cutting, grinding, extra parts. You gotta do this one! Although, this was last part for me and I had a hell of a time with the other parts, so it might just be subjective.
