Subject: need to lower rear of my gen 2 4x4 IP: Logged
Message: Hey, i want to even out my dak, my front is a lot lower than my rear, and i don't want to raise the front with the torsion bars. The problem is that the 4x4 rear end is the opposite of the 4x2... the leafs are on top of the axle and the hangers and shackels are all opposite of the 4x2...people have tld me to try removing the smalled leaf, but i've heard that gives a bad ride. (how do i remove a leaf anyways?, can i do it myself or should i go to a shop). Also i've been told to get full size chevy shackles and they will work... i need help, i just put on a roll pan and it looks like my trucks ass is way on the air.... any help is appreaciated..... i'd like to get it about the height of a 4x2...
PS.... i don't wanna hear about how you don't agree with me lowering a 4x4, cuz i've heard it all before and could really give a crap if you think i'm wrong...

Message: It does not hurt to lift the front of the truck an inch by cranking on the torsion bars, this is what i did and it looks great. As for the leaf removal DONT DO IT it will ruin the springs and ride. No other way but maybe a rear axle flip kit., from Bell Tech, DJM suspension, Aim Ind. on the bottom of axle and drop is approx 2-3 inches.the kit is the mount which the springs rest on, this will need to be located correctly and welded to the axle, and the stock mount on top of axle will need to be removed. Good luck.

Message: Nope, the axle is below the springs, and nobody makes a flip kit.

Message: i found a flip kit for a 2wd to flip the axle under the springs to lift the rear. couldnt you just install this in reverse so it puts the axle over the springs?
ive heard that 2wd lift shackles will work to lower the rear if you install them upside down. Superbeedak has a post about it but i cant get ahold of his email.
anyone?
