Subject: Will 2" lowering blocks cause wheel hop? IP: Logged
Message: I have 2002 Dakota with a 4.7L 5-speed and a anti spin rear, Right now I get absolutely no wheel hop at all. If I put 2" lowering blocks in the rear, will that cause me to develope wheel hop?

Message: i have heard over and over and over again that it will. that being said, i have had my 4" blocks in for 3 years, and not once have i experienced wheel hop. i drive agressive, i have launched as high as 3500 rpm, burned out through 2nd, and scratched 3rd on numerious occations and i have never had any wheel hop issues.
i have never been to a track yet, so i dont know if i will get WH under sticky conditions or not.
i dont know if this is true or not (i like to think so), but i have heard the pinion angle has something to do with it. i have the angled blocks, and i guess it just works well with my drop (4/6)
maaRTe, wheel hop is when you take off fast, and the leafsprings wrap up causing the rearwheels to hop. it viborates the whole truck and you dont really go anywhere. (basicly it seems like the whole thing is going to fall apart)

Message: if you have a sure grip rear end, try spinning the wheels in reverse, when it hops up and down, thats wheel hop.

That's the best way someone can describe wheel hop, and it really does feel that way. It's a pretty damn violent shaking and is very easy to get in my truck, bothers the hell outta me when I want to play, but aww well.

Message: I have two inch drop blocks on my rear, and nothing else. I also have the 4.7 5-spd. I had really bad wheel hop stock. The hop after 275-60-15's and Lakewood traction bars is gone.
Note after putting the blocks in the rear...
The Lakewood bars are dangerously close to the ground......Be careful...I only use mine at the track now.

Message: Hey everyone, I had aluminum two inch blocks and they cracked. I have been told by local shops that you should only use steel blocks on dakotas. I have also been told if you curve the bottom of the block to match the spring arch this will not happen. I have since switched to hangers and will soon put in bags. anyone ever had any problems or heard this. check your blocks for hairline cracks .
