I have a chance to get some 18x8.5 rims for a great price. However, I have no idea what the backspacing is on them and the seller (for whatever reason) won't give me the dimension.
The rims in question are American Racing Nooz (I haven't been able to locate Nooz on AR's web site). The seller did tell me that the offset is 25mm and that these rims are made "specifically for the Dakota and Durango". I imagine the backspace is 5" or 5.5". I doubt that it's 4.5", but that's only a guess.
Now, my Dakota is (going to be) lowered 2-3 via a Hotchkis kit and I don't have fender flares. Does anyone foresee any problems with either clearance (the tires should be around 29" high) or the tires sticking out too far from the fender. I'd rather not put on fender flares.
Any insight would be appreciated.

They don't list an 18x8.5 only 18x8. It lists the 18x8 with 25mm offset and 5.5" backspacing

chuck, a 8" wide rim needs 6" of backspacing. for the amount of drop you want. anything less than that is pushing it.
be carefull though. with all of that backspacing, you need a "high positive offset" and not all rims are able to have that (depending on the style some are not strong enough to hold up) if AR is not giving you all of the specs it might be because the BS is off and the rim/tire will stick out.
i have 6 1/4" of BS on mine with a 4/6. the lower you go the more BS you need. the tire comes dead even with the lip of the fender. if you want, i can send you some picks.

I have 4.5" of backspacing on my 17s and a 2/3" Ground Force drop. I'm running the 255/55/17s (28"), and they line up perfect with the outer edge of my fender flares. Because I have less backpacing (than most); my tires just barely rub as they tuck in after hitting a dip. A 29" diameter tire would have destroyed my fenders. The 5.5" backspacing and 29" tires might give you the slight rub I'm experiencing now with my set up. I think 5.5" will also stick out without the flares, but a 245 or 235 might do the trick. To be more cautious; get a 27-28" diameter tire. Just giving you something to think about. Long time no talk buddy; how are thing??
