I got a 2000 V6 Regular Cab. Its dropped 2/4. I was "thinking" of putting on som 20s wrapped in 275/45/20s. I was assured by the guy selling the wheels and tires that they wouldnt rub. But, I wanted to ask you whatt you think. Do you think I will have any rubbing problems. How about the sidewall height? I drive the truck everyday on some pretty harsh roads. Do you think the sidewall height is sufficient and would bending rims possibly be a problems? Thanks

you should be fine. as far as the sidewall, i use to have 245/45/17's and never had a problem. since the sidewall on the 275/45's are bigger, you should not have a problem binding rims

Not kota on 20's but....

The tires for 275/45/20's would be nearly 30" tall. They may not rub standing still but they will probably rub on bumps. Depending on the backspacing you may not be able to turn the steering wheel all the way without rubbing either. This also depends on how you dropped the truck.

I have a 29" tire with a 2/3 drop and the fronts will rub on big bumps. When I upgrade I'm going to 28" or 27" tall tires.

Probably need to go down to at least 255/45/20 or 275/40/20.

oops, i forgot to put the "s" in my name, but that was me that posted.

the tire is 29.74" tall, and if Mark is rubbing i'd take his advice.

you are probably wanting to run the goodyear tire that is aroung $145 (i dont blame you), so if you went with a stiff spring, like hotchkis, and a good performance shock, you might not rub as bad

Thanks Guys,
I though that 275/45 was too big of a series. I just wanted confirmation. Thanks for the help.

Eric....good to meet you, your truck is dope!
The pic doesnt do it justice!

would love to see you run next time! (just
make sure you switch to a smaller tire in the
rear) seeing that 20" tire burn would kill me,
just like the guy in that 02 ram w/20's, he
smoked the tires for like a minute before his
run.

I think I am getting better at this racing thing

best time 10.04
reaction time was horrible too (1.050)
If I could cut the R/T in half, I could be lookin at
9's.

I think I talked my brother into helping me
install HO cams ; ) He wont know what hit
him, if I hit high 9's.

yea it was good meeting you and your bro. his S-runner is sweet, as is your dak!

i didnt run because my truck is sick ;-( i went to see a friend who works at a chrystler dealership today, and he said my injectos were out of sync, so he fixed that, and my o2 sensor might be going out.

ill run next week if i get this problem sorted out. and it will have to be on the 20's. ill just chirp the tires to clean them and go. (hopefully they'll hook)

10.04 is good! what was the 60' time?

you should do the H.O. intake also. its only like $150, and CW said i was worth it. if it is anything like my M-1, you'll love it!

cams and intake for sure, my other job owes

that will push these trucks into some decent

kill me if I dropped 4 g's into my truck, a

damn, you need a posi. if you can drop .5 sec off of your 60', you will shave about .6-.7 off your 1/8. easily in the 9's

posi + HO cams + HO intake = beating you bro's s-runner, and a BIG smile on your face...lol

I cant go next thursday, Trigonometry final (I
flunked the test this morning, have to pass the
final...late night at the track)

this summer will most likely be there almost
every thursday, they usually keep it going till
10:30, but some guy blew his motor and
sprayed oil all the way down one lane, so they
closed it early.

Deep Dak: he ran consistent 9.3's, they even
showed a clip of one of his runs on the fox 11
morning news this morning ; )

Kota: I doubt I will be as fast as him, unless
he misses a gear, he should be in the 8's
easily, I told him he was shifting wrong, road
and track said the s charged s runner was
even with the lightning, "if the driver of the s-
runner farted, itched, or sneezed...."

reaction time is reaction time, the clock starts
ticking as soon as it turns green, if you sit
there for 1/2 a second too long, you're 1/2 a
second slower.

I ran faster than the dakota's that were
running, but i need more speed.

D, the time starts when the front tire break the beam, not when the light turns green... you can sit on the line for 2 hours and still run a 14 sec pass.

lol... nope, if you just want to see your speed and e.t., you can wait as long as you like. However, you WILL loose the race.

if you were racing for money or whatever, you wold want the best reaction time as possible, so you could get to the end of the track first. in pro racing, its not who is quicker, but who gets to the end first.

I'm probably not going to the speedzone because I'm scheduled to work until 2:00. Getting off at 2:00 means pulling into the zone at around 3:30 or so. :( Too bad the get together can't be delayed for a couple hours.
