Hangers attach the leaf springs to the frame and move the up.
Block go between the axle and the leaf springs and move the axle up.
I think that hangers are better than blocks because blocks make the leaf springs hang low, but hangers are more difficult to install because you must cut off the rivets. Blocks are just bolt on.

Message: DO NOT USE TWO BLOCKS ONE ON TOP OF EACH OTHER.(DANGEROUS) THE MOST YOU CAN USE IS A 4 INCH BLOCK, BUT EVEN THAT WILL BE TOO MUCH. IF YOU HAVE 15 INCH WHEELS GO NO MORE THAN 3 INCH BLOCKS. BUY THE PINION CORRECT BLOCKS FROM www.truckn.com THEY SELL THESE FOR 25.00 AND HAVE PINION CORRECTION BUILT INTO BLOCK,VERY IMPORTANT. AND BLOCKS ARE EXTRUDED ALUMINUM VERY STRONG, DONT USE CAST ALUMINUM BLOCKS. ALSO KEEP IN MIND WHEN USING BLOCKS THE LEAF SPRING PLATE WILL MOVE CLOSER TO THE GROUND, SO IF YOU GET A FLAT TIRE, THE 3 INCH BLOCKS WONT PUSH THIS SO CLOSE TO GROUND AS WOULD THE 4 INCHERS. HOPE THIS EXPLAINS..

Message: yes they will work fine, i am sure these are the cast aluminum blocks. I would not recommend cast installed on a 4x4 though. You may need to get new u-bolts also, the stock ones wont be long enough, and the ones that come with the blocks might not be the correct width, you will have to see. Also any place that does tires, lift kits will have new u-bolts if you need some.

Message: I DONT KNOW. IF YOU USE HANGERS THEN INSTALL THEM AND LOOK AT THE DRIVELINE WHEN THE TRUCK RESTS ON THE GROUND, IT SHOULD LOOK ALOT LIKE IT DID BEFOR YOU BEGAN THE PROJECT. DRIVELINE IN A STRAIGHT LINE TO TRANS THIS INCLUDES THE U-JOINTS.

Message: hay ben, if you are going to lower it, yes you should use shims to correct the pinion angle. using the hangers is a smart choise. but remember you are bringing the rear assembly up in the rear and angle is going to change with it, remember your tranny is not moving up. when you or who ever is going to measer your angle 2 things the rear end should be nose down about 2-4 degrees and that angle should be no more than 2 deg diff than your tranny.

Message: hotchkis makes a great performance
suspension package, In the old R/Ts,
Hotchkis provided the lowering kits for Dodge,
If you want to go lower than hotchkis offers
(2/3) then go with DJM or western chassis,
both offer complete line of control arms,
shackle hanger kits, coils etc...I personally
went with DJM 3/5 control arms and
shackle/hangers. I love how the truck rides,
nice and smooth, not to stiff like most lowered
trucks. All you need to add to these kits are
some larger than stock sway bars and you're
set.

Message: for all you guys + gals out there getting redy to lower your dak good chioce. Just remember dont lower it to the piont it will be useless like all those fools in mini poser magazine.
Trust me,if you want to improve the handling of your dak, lowering it with the proper equipment will pay-off BIG TIME. when I was getting ready to do my road-racer, I did some homework, and it payed off. Just to give you guys a few details 94 spt std cab, v-6, fac 16x8 whls,255-50-16 and 235-50-16 tires and the right suspention componets, this pulls .91 Gs turning lft and .90Gs right. Know I will admit I did make a couple of the suspention parts, but mostly all is bolt-on. when any body reads this messege if you have any particular questions feel free to e-mail.

Message: i got my black dakota back in may and i love it, its a regular cab with a V6 and 5 Speed tranny i just passed 8,000 miles and have done lots of changes to it, but the next thing i would like to do is lower it. my good friend has a lift and has lowered a few S10s, i was wondering if anyne out there knows of some good kits to lower the truck, about 3 in the front and 4 in the back, and without spending over $400. Also i am interested in putting some 18 inch rims on the truck, i am waiting until $1500 comes around..i doubt christmas will come close.
i would gretly appreciate anyone with some drop kits or rims, if you have pictures of a dakota that has been lowered i would like to see them
Also if you would like to know what i have done to my truck i would be happy to tell you. thank you very much RozCU1014@aol.com
