Subject: Exhaust on a slammed Texas truck IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know the laws concerning where exhaust pipes have to exit.
I'm wondering this because I'd like to just put a turndown off of my muffler and eliminate the over the axle pipe. And that way when it gets slammed I wont have to deal with exhaust clearance.
Any help is appreciated.

Message: Dave,
I have been wondering the same thing myself. There are a couple guys in our Dakota club that have them turned down and have not said anything about it, so I am assuming it's ok. I will check around and see what I can find out.

Message: Well, I looked around the net and came to the conlclusion that it will be okay as long as it exits 6 inches behind the cab and is not directly under or near the gas tank or gas filler tube. Also, I have a couple friends that have a similar setup and have had no problem with the cops. So this morning I went out with a hacksaw and cut off the tubing after the rear muffler hangar. It sounds quite a bit better now but I haven't put on a tip yet. That should smooth it out.
