Subject: Will they still honor the recall if...

My 2000 R/T is under recall for the ball joints and they are starting to go. Does anyone know if they will still cover it if its been lowered 1" more in front and 2" more in rear? I mean we all know lowering it didnt cause the ball joints to fail, but all they did for this recall was extend the warrenty on the balljoints and doesn't lowering it void the warrenty? Anyone in the same situation?

Take it in and see if they catch the fact you lowered it. The service advisor more then likely wont catch it... if the tech does.... he is an ass if he says anyting.. as for voiding your warrenty... they have to PROVE that lowering your truck CAUSED the ball joints to fail .....

sorry for the spelling mistakes ..... just home from work .. tired as hell ....

Similar question, similar circumstance. I was told I needed ball joints on my '02 Club Cab when I took it it in for alignment after lowering it. I had the shop (not a dealer) do the replaccement, I still have the receipts. Can I get reinbursed for parts and labor. At the time it had over 50 thousand on the clock.

Yeah all you have to do is show them the reciepts and they probably wont even look at the truck to see if its lowered. The factory upper balljoints have the warrenty extended to 100,000.

Thanks for the info. It's worth a shot. The bill was over $400.
