Message: okay a body drop is where you cut the body around the frame and lower the truck further down onto the frame rails. this takes lost of relocating of componters, you normal lose your heat and air and its a real pain to do your self. A shop well charge normaly around $1000.00 an inch for a body drop.
a static drop is where you install lowering suspension componets that don't move i.e lowering blocks, lowering leaf spring, lowering coils, or lowering spring hangers. Or you could do a numatic drop (installing airbags) and theres always the seriously 80s hydros!! oh yeah baby. (fyi hydros are extremely hard on a truck becuase the are real jerky when adjusting up and down or hitting sides and three wheel. Hope this helps and stop acting like a jerk when you post

Message: actually a STATIC DROP doesn't mean that it doesn't move, it means that it's not adjustable. it means that you "lowered" your car/truck w/ springs, spindles, hangers, blocks, or a variation of these.
a TRADITIONAL BODY DROP is for the most part, when you cut the floor of the truck and raise it the desired amount and weld/bolt it back in. the cab or bed is then considered "channeled" over the frame rails letting the rocker panels hang lower than they frame rails (or at least lower than the did before). you then can move bracketry or modify it for the front fenders, grille assembly, etc. so that it is also lowered the amount that you lowered the cab/body. you don't have to loose your heat/air, however it may need to be relocated. on a dakota for instence, the computer, battery, and fuse box (on a v6) will need to be relocated as well. The angle of your steering colum will change dramatically and modification to the firewall will probably be nessicary. other considerations may be the drive shaft and transmission being too close to the floor of the cab now, so you will have to "tunnel" the floor.
a STOCK FLOOR BODY DROP would be leaving the cab/bed in tact, but building a new frame of sorts. this would normally be done with a pretty stout box tubing. you can make the "new frame" shallower than the existing frame which will allow the truck to lay lower. don't think that this is any easier, relocation, & tunneling is still probably necessary.
HYDRAULICS get a bad rap for being hard on trucks or messy. but there are so many variations to installing either juice or bags that you can actually have a better ride on hydraulics than air. with hydros you need extra batteries to run the pumps that pump fluid into the cylinders or rams. the fluid going in & out of them is what extends and contracts the rams making it go up & down. (alot like bags) you can set these up to go at any speed. the operator is what is hard on the truck. you can tear up a bagged truck, or a static drop truck just as easy as one that's juiced.
