Subject: lowering an 02 CC IP: Logged
Message: I was thinking about lowering my 2002 Dakota 2wd CC, but I dont want to go all crazy with it. I have 17" wheels and 255/55 tires and there's to much of a gap between the fender and tires. I want to close that a little, so I was thinking 1" or maybe 2" tops. I want to do it right tho, so what would be the best way to go about doing this. I'm not familiar with lowering techniques, but I do know how to change all the parts necessary. Also, I need to put new ball joints, and new sterring linkage on my truck, so I was hoping to incorporate this into one project if it would make things easier. Can I get some opinions on how I should go about this. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks Guys.

Message: I know someone can give me some good advice on where to start. Would springs and shackles do the job without compromising the ride quality? Do I need to replace the a-arms to keep a comfortable ride?

Message: Do I need to go through some sort of initiation before someone will give me advice?? This site doesn't seem to be very helpful. Although I'm sure no one will post back, is there another site where people actually give advice???

Message: Too bad no one want's to help this guy.
Do a search on this site, there are tons of answers for this situation.
Personaly I'd go with lowering springs in the front, and shackles or blocks in the back.

Message: I just lowered my 2001CC with a hotchkis TVS system. It worked great. I have dunlop sport rover GTX 255/55/17. I replaced everything except the control arms. The moog lower ball joints were defective the boot doesn't fit over the ball joint. Regardless of what people say you should use grease in the bushings not lithium grease. Lithium grease is water based and wears off in 2 weeks which is why the squeaking starts. Hotchkis says this in there documentation. I advise you to purchase the control arms done from SoCAL Dakota it will save you money and time. If you have any other questions you can email me at rmille22@optonline.net. The kit was a 2/3 drop. Looks good. Going to take some pictures. My dak is a 2001 CC 4.7 amber fire pearl with all the goodies added.
Regards,
Bob
