Subject: Wheel/Tire Combo...Layin Frame?
IP: Logged

Message:
I am currently getting my truck bagged and I was wondering if anyone knows if 17x8 wheels with 5.5 inches of backspacing will work. I am getting the tranny x-memeber modified and the crossbracing moved to make sure that I lay frame. I am trying to figure out if my current wheels will work with a 235/40-17 on them. Any help would be great!!

you can lay on 17's with no problem. you dont even need to cut the bed (just dint it a little), but with that back spaceing, you might have problems. im pretty sure the tire will hit the wheel well lip in the rear. the front might be ok because the front usually butterfly's and the top of the tire folds in.

with a 8" wide rim you want about 6 1/4" of backspacing.

some people will pull the sides of the bed, but if i were you, i would re-hoop the rims. you can tell them what amount of backspacing you need and they will set you up. on a 17" rim it about $100 each.
