How much of the ride quality did you lose with your setup? Seriously don't want "dropped kidneys" from riding in my truck. Do you hit the bumpstops a lot or at all? Are you still able to put stuff in the back and nothing rub? Is there any rubbing at all front or back?

PYE I saw in another post you answered some of these questions, but things may have changed since you last posted. Any advice/recommendations would be a huge help. I'm about to buy some 20s and wanted to do it right.

Thanks for any and all info. Later/Peace

Q - How much of the ride quality did you lose with your setup?
A - To be perfectly honest, it rides better now than before. Ofcoarse you can feel more bumps, but I like that better than the gliding feeling.

Q - Do you hit the bumpstops a lot or at all?
A - I'm actually riding my bump stops 24/7. Thats the way I custom made mine. Mine act as a "seconday shock" if you will.

Q - Are you still able to put stuff in the back and nothing rub?
A - Yea , rear fender wells are actually larger than the front to begin with. You may have to re-ask this Q in a few weeks...I plan on dropping the back another 1"-2". teeheehee.

Q - Is there any rubbing at all front or back?
A - Only in the front in extream, hellacious South Texan situations. I will admit....I went mudding(by accident....then on purpose when truck was already muddy) It rubbed real bad when I came out of the ditch, lol. But, as I said before, If you are going too fast and hit a good sized pot hole, you will rub.

How can your vehicle ride better now thats it's on the bump stops with no suspension travel then before when the suspension had travel? Sure I prefer a stiffer suspension over a loose floating suspension but ever vehicle that i've ridden in that was so low that it rode the bump stops rode like crap, I'd be scared to drive that thing down the freeway..

I'll tell you how...because I drive the vehicle and I said it drives great now. You pickin' up what I'm puttin' down?

It doesnt "slam" into the bumb stops, they kinda move insinc in a way. I dunno, you want me to mount a camera under my front end or what?

Whatever makes you happy. But if you ever ride in or drive a vehicle with a properly tuned suspension you will realize how crappy your ride really is (the ride in the vehicle not your truck). Not to mention how unsafe it is.

I guess there are those who do stuff for the look
and there are those who do things for the look of performance.

I'm the type who does it for performance so it's hard for me to understand otherwise.

Correct, but you were asking how his ride quality was and he's made it sound lke his truck rides like it has a properly designed and tuned suspension when in reality it's far from that. It may be ok for him, but IMO it sounds like the "dropped kidneys" ride your trying to avoid is what he has...
I supose I may have come across kinda harsh at first, but what can i say. I guess it's just a difference of oppinion, it's his truck and thats how he likes it, i was just throwing something out there for you to think about...

.......I've been inside of everything from a 88' oldsmobile to a 2004 viper....and i still say my truck rides pretty well.

You are right, I did it for the LOOK, I have a 3.9 with rediculously heavy 20" steel rims....obviously I'm not a speed demon.

Please, do not tell me how my truck rides when you have not driven it.

Thank You

whatsthepoint you are so very correct in reminding me about my statement of no "dropped kidneys". Thank you. I don't mind too much of a lose in ride quality. I've never really ridden in a dropped or slammed truck. The only ones I've seen are bouncing all over the road. That is what I want to avoid.

Now PYE does your truck bounce all over the road when you hit little bumps and dips in the road going fast or slow doesn't matter.

Thanks again for the responses and opinions, that is why we all come to forums like this one to learn and use others experiances. Later

No,I do not bounce all over the rode at all. I have seen plenty that did, but they all used front coils...while I'm using control arms.

Jeb, I have the DJM 3/4 kit installed on my 98 RC. It rides just a little stiffer than the factory suspension, but I installed cheap shocks. My truck does not sit on the bumpstops or have I had a problem with them hitting. I installed the bumpstops that came with the kit. The big difference between mine and PYE is that I roll on 18's with 255/55 tires. But I know you can run 20's without using PYE's setup. You just have to be careful what size tires you use. The other questions I can't really answer since I have a differnet wheel tire combo.

let me just say straight up i DO NOT reccomend spring tech 3/4-5 ( it looks like 5 ) they say its also the djm brand, w/ nitro drop shocks. My ride gives me back aches and head aches, i have caught air in the rear of my truck from hitting a bump on the freeway. i feel every little bump in the road. i have to go completely sideways over speedbumps and everyone who rides w/me complains after their 2nd time.

Im buying the hotchkis tvs kit for my truck and hopefully it will help.

NOBODY can offer solutions for me including my extremely experienced installer, he said get a different kit.

my car will tailgate a ferrari around a corner though going 40 :-)

Bajajajaj, sorry Bash, but that was amusing.

Also senor bash, it is the kit, beleive me. Sprint Tech is like, out of business already or some ish.

*NOTE*
If you plan to get 275/45/20's, just get the 2/4 drop. You will have some fenderwell showing, but you will not have to do any modifications like me.

I found a western chassis kit that looked promising. Any comments on the quality of the company/product. The kit has a 2" drop spindle for 97 and up dakotas, then if I want 3 up front they have a 1" drop coil. The rear shackle is 4/4.5/5" drop so I'm not too worried about the back end as much as I am worried about the front. Thanks again everyone.

spindles dont work on our trucks, wrong kit, you need either, springs or a-arms.

and pye... my problem is officially the bumpstops, what exactly did you do to yours to make it more comforting ?

BASH - is it your front or rear stops? I left my factory stops in the back, but modified up front. What i did was use a cut torch to cut off the factory bump stops off of the factory arms. I then cut the DJM bump stop in half, removing the bolt. After that, I welded the DJM bolt onto the factory bump stop. Finaly, Bolted them in place. I have to adjust them every once in a while, do to the weight of the truck pouncing on them.
