Message: 4" blocks will most likely have your bump stops in contact with your axle ALL THE TIME ; my 3" blocks gave me ~1 clearance which was quickly gone with any weight in the bed; so I added air shocks to lift it a bit when needed
easiest front lowering method is to cut a coil or 1.25 coil from your front springs and reinstall.. any more than that and you will have the same problem - you will be riding on your bump stops. cutting springs does make them a little stiffer, but you should upgrade shocks at the same time to minimize bottoming out trauma

Message: Do your self a favor and do it right. Get shackles and hangers for the rear and use spindles up front . You will regret any thing else. I ve done the springs in front and it is hard to alighn and hard on other components.Bell tech has all the right stuff for your truck. Stillen.com is a good place to start but performancesuspension.com seems to have the best prices.

Message: I cut 1.25 coil out of mine and it aligned just fine, and I run 4" angled blocks in the rear. It rides a lot better with Doeschtech shocks too, a helluva lot better than the OEMs.

Message: I did not re-align my '91 after the 1.25 coil cut, but with the new Summit SportTruck shocks I was happy with the handling (altho those shocks seemed to be fading after 1.5yrs/15000 miles - still a good deal for the money IMO) also I did not notice any unusual wear on my tires..
but 'Andrew' may be correst - it may be difficult to get the front end to factory specs after a coil cut, and Yes, spindles would be a much better alternative since you do not change alignment, travel, etc but they are WAY more expensive and WAY more time consuming to install
but I disagree with the comment on using shackles/hangers as being any better than blocks.. again they are way more expensive and time consuming to install, and really don't offer any real benefit over blocks. you will have *exactly* the same bump stop clearance issues for a given drop whether you use blocks or shackles/hangers.. visualize what you are doing when you swap componentrs. draw a picture.. you are moving the axle closer to the frame. period.

Message: nothin like a hack job. dont cut your spings.buy lowering springs. if you want to go real cheap why dont you heat them with a torch until it drops.as long as it looks cool right, safety dosnt matter and it will ride like a dump truck.like come on guys if you cant afford $80 for a set of springs, why worry about it. anyone with me
