Subject: So let me get this strait.... IP: Logged
Message: Judging by the directions for installing the DJM shackles/hangers....I'm actually using these as extenders? WHat I mean is, I'm bolting these on to the factory shackles and hangers?
And the DJM Control-Arm direction are confusing. I need a better sorce of instructions. :(

Message: Dude it's not that hard.Jackup the rear. Put stands under the frame then use your jack to support the rear end. Do one side at a time. Unbolt the rear springs from the hangers. Remove the factory hangers(that's the part riveted to the truck) you have to grind and or cut the rivet heads off. I used a plazma cutter to melt most of the head then finished up with a grinder...be careful with the drivers side front hanger it's right next to the gas tank and fill. Bolt the new hangers to the frame. Use locktite on the bolts. Bolt the springs into the new hangers in stall the new bumpstop and new shocks. Up front you take out the lower control arm and bolt in the new control arm and shock. If you don't know how to safely handle the coil spring find someone who does. They can be very dangerous. Then you HAVE to have the front end realigned. While you've got most of the front end apart I would also replace the upper ball joints with the moog greaseable one. I'm not trying to flame you or be a dick but if your unsure about this maybe you should have someone else do it for you. I had a ton of trouble with mine because the rear srping pivot bolts were frozen in the spring. I ended up having to completely unbolt the springs from the rearend then cut the rivets with the springs still attached then take the springs and hangers to a machine shop to have the bolts pressed out. It's little surprises like that, that can make this install real hard.

Message: Well, I personally have no experience with suspensions. I'm learning how to do all of this stuff before I goto college for collision/custom modification. I was just unsure about the directions, they seemed to say that i bolt the new hangers and shackles on to the old ones, which sounded rediculous. I'm mainly going to do a little work and mostly watch this guy install it for me. He read the directions and thought it said that I bolt the new shackles/hangers onto the old ones, and he said that isnt how it's done. He mainly needed a little help with the front because he's never dealt with dodge front ends. He ha all of the basic knoledge so I know it should go atleast half way smooth.
Thanks for the input though. If you know where I can find some in-depth instructions please let me know. I just want to study them to have an idea whats going on.
