Subject: Do I need new swaybars to drop??

Message:
I want to drop my truck with a 2/3 Hotchkis and I have the tire and handling package on my truck already so do I NEED the new swaybars? Are they a different shape or something? What did I pay extra for if my Dodge ones are junk? Help!

I also had the tire and handling package. I installed the Hotchkis springs and Bilstein shocks with a 2/3 drop without replacing the sway bars. It worked fine, no damage but some minor problems.

The factory rear sway bar hit and rattled due to the geometry changes associated with the drop. It doesn't hurt any parts, but it does get to be annoying. I also rubbed on the drivers side front tire from time to time when I hit big bumps at speed.

I have replaced the factory sway bars with the Hotchkis bars now. They are much stronger and heavier. The ride quality did not suffer. Cornering is way better.

The rattle in the rear is gone. And I think I have less tendency to rub the front tire because I have zero hits since the swap. (I think this is because it is harder for the drivers side to move up without the passenger side going up also.)
