Subject: Taking Out Leafs? IP: Logged
Message: I want to lower the rear of my 01 QC and I can't find anyone selling just some shackles. I don't want to lower the front and I don't want blocks. So I was thinking about taking out the rear leafs because the heaviest thing thats ever been in my bed is either 2 people sleeping in it on a camping trip or my 88 kawasaki stand up which 2 people can pick up, I'd estimate it at around 350-400 lbs at most possibly less. So I'm just wondering if thats too heavy if I take out some leafs to get like a 2" drop. Or if anyone has some Belltech or DJM adjustable shackles for pretty cheap, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Message: just take out the bottom spring. its the short fat one. it will take away from your payload, but it will give you a little over a inch of drop.

Message: How much will it take away though? Would I still be able to carry some friends and my jetski? Like say I had about 5 people total in the cab and a some stuff to go camping or go to the lake in the bed, would that be too much. I wouldn't think so because thats not that much, but I don't want to mess anything up. Thanks

Message: i wouldnt take out the bottom leaf. its the one that supports everything.take out the longest ones first not including the one that bolts to the shackles obviously.take one out and see if your happy with where it sits and if not remove a
nother one. at very least run a mono leaf with the support leaf.
Just my two cents
if i'm wrong someone let me know

Message: just a lil suggestions...i dropped my 87 dakota 4/6 i pulled all but one leaf out and the ride was terrible but i was tucking about an inch of tire in the back. and the payload was not affected you can carry a suzuki 400 in the back and they weigh about what 350-400 lbs...so consider the ride quality not the weight factor...my 2 cents
