Message: How do they work? is it a differnent spring angle or the mounting points that are differnet? Is some one had a pic or a link to a pic that would be great.
I'm curiouse be cause I was wondering if I could get the local spring shop to build me a set rather then fork out a wad of cash for a set.

Message: I assume you are speaking of leaf springs.
Hotchkis drop leafs mount the same as stock springs, to get the drop they are de-arched.
Basically they take shorter leafs, put a small curve in them, and add an overload. When mounted the springs have nearly no arch.
They may use stiffer leafs, plus a shorter leaf will be stiffer anyway. The springs have to be stiffer because there is less travel for the suspension.
The overload is a really short spring that goes into use when the suspension is compressed more than usual, it basiclly pushes up on the other springs.
