Subject: Effects of lowering?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have an '04 CC 4.7 5spd. with 17 inch R/T wheels and am looking to lower it, to about R/T height, 2 inch drop or so. I have never lowered any of my vehicles what kind of effect will it have on my ride/tires/handling/suspension components? Any recommended brands or setups? Any help is appreciated.

I have a 99 cc with a 2 inch ground force drop. It uses shorter coil springs up front and drop hangers in the rear. Yes, the ride is a bit stiffer and I lost some shock travel. However, the stance and cornering ability more than makes up for it. If I had to do it over again, I would get DJM a-arms up front. A-arms will retain MOST of the stock ride, not all of it. But better than the shortened springs. Tire wear with either a-arms, springs or both should not be an issue if you keep the alignment in spec. Hope this helps you make a decision. Good luck and enjoy the stareing.

Don't bother with A-arms for only a 2" drop, not worth the price. My 2000 R/T Club Cab is 2"/2-1/2" front/back with springs and blocks and rides just as good as stock. Lowering any vehicle will improve handling as you lower the centre of gravity, there is no single better way to improve handling.
You may need to lose the stock front snubbers and replace with shorter ones (the stock 'cup' on the ft. ones will smack the frame) will most likely have to cut down the rears (or lose them, too)

2" drop coils for the front about $100
2" lowering blocks $50 (ground force steel)

you might even be able to keep your stock shocks.

I would go any more than 2" drop with lowering blocks, you may have problems with wheel hop if you do.
