Subject: Help with lowering... IP: Logged
Message: Hey all, lowering my 97 dakota, 318. I want 4/6. Is it possible to get the 4" up front without cutting the coils? Who would sell a 4" drop coil? Also, what are spindles and would I need drop spindles?
Hoping to set it up so that my tires will last a normal amount of time. they're 275/40/17 and expeeeensive

Message: 2 inch dropcontrol arm & 2inch spring for the front. They dont make spindles for 3rd gen daks. shackles and hangers for the rear, 6 inches u might get away without c notching the rear as long as u never put anything in the bed. i have a 97 lowered 3/5 and am going to try 4/6 eventualy with out notching the frame using hotchkins 2inch leaf with djm 3 inch shackles and hangers. if u go with a 4 inch coil the front is going to be stiff as hell. i have a 3 inch coil and it hits bumps pretty hard.with a 2 inch arm and a 2 inch coil the spring rate wont be as drastic and will ride a little more like stock

Message: Yeah, 4" springs (Beltech #4764) would be hella stiff. And if you're going to try and level the truck that'll be 6" in the back. Definately get it C-notched or you'll need new tooth fillings every month.
