Subject: Lowering on 20's?? Will it work?? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2002 Dakota SLT Ext Cab 2x4. I am buying 20's and I am lookin to set the truck down on them. Does anyone have any experience in this? Have you heard of any problems? Will they rub alot? Also what lowering kit is good? Do I need spindles or can I just get coils? Will just coils make my alignment way off? Any help is appreciated!!!!

Message: I just looked into this and you can do it if you want rubberbands for tires.I also got to see pictures of a qc with 2/4 drop and it looked ok but I would not spent 3 g's on rims and tires to hit a pebble in the road and bend the rim.Just my opinion though do what you like!

Message: how low are you going?
as far as bending rims, i am running a 35 series, with billet rollers, and only bent 2 rims in almost 2 years. they were 2 REALLY deep potholes (damn hollywood freeway). they can withstand some pretty good abuse without bending. if you want chrome rims they are even stronger.
just a FYI, i might be selling my 20's in the near future. let me know if you are interested

Message: hey man to answer your first few questions, first off there are no spindles for gen III daks, I don't know why, but there aren't any. As for springs, they will do nothing to your geometry. That's the beauty of them, they are a direct bolt on, and they help maintain factory ride. Now about the 20's well, they will fit on your DAk pretty easily, a few mods may have to be done with the fender wells, but you can Ask Kotaon20's about what he did. The bending of rims, that really doesn't happen too often. Most rims today are stronger than oem rims so you should be str8. KOTAON20's bro how are you going threw to get the "INTRO" wheels. I'm looking for a company that will ship some over seas to sicily. I have an FPO addies, so they actually would be shipping them to NY. If you have any advice on this let me know.

Message: i have 2" A-arms, and 2" springs up front, and in the rear i have a 2" shackle mounts, and a 4" block (i have the droped hanger, but just never got around to installing it)
the only thing i did for clearence is notch the frame, and change to dochtech shocks.
the front tires wore through the plastic inner liners in the fenders and still rub a little, but f*&^ it. its not that big of a deal

Message: I got 275/45/20 and they rub very few times. If I'm turning sharp and go up a curb fast . . . if I'm speeding on the highway and hit a dip like by a bridge . . . thats about it. I think 295's would rub alot more but that would be just common sense to me. How used are your tires? It might be a good idea to just ride them out for a few more months or through the winter and buy new tires and lower it at the beginning of next summer. Thats what I would do. My 2 Cents.

Message: Hey kota on 20s. Let me know when you want to sell your rims. I have a buddy who wants 20s on his Dak now that he has seen mine. He has fender flares though. I know your backpacing is set for the body line. Will the rims be in to far and look funny? Thanks.
