Message: If you got R/T suspension then that would only be a 1/1 drop. I have an R/T with a Hotchkis 2/3 drop and custom tuned biltein shocks. It's pricey but it is the best suspension available for dakotas period. It would be a true 2/3 drop for your truck. My truck handles like it's on rails. Call Sam P at socaldakota.com His phone# is on his wesite. He's got the best prices for hotchkis.

Message: R/T,
When I get the r/t coils the plan is to take a 1/2' off of each end for the added inch. The guy I'm having do the drop for me has done it before and said it should work just fine. Want to know your opinion on that. Thanks for the reply.

Message: If your doing that then why not just cut the coils that are on there instead of waisting money. Either way your ride quality is going to suffer. If your doing this because your on a budget, then just cut the stockers until you have the money to buy some Hotchkis coils. Or go with some cheaper DJM or springtech coils. How much of a drop do you want?

Message: I got the R/T springs because of the spring rate between the v8 and the v6, which is what I have. cutting the higher rate spring shouldn't kill the spring rate, it will just shorten the spring 1/2" on each end.

Message: are the v8 springs magic springs? why do you think they dont apply to the laws of physics?
if you cut or heat a spring, hence modifying its designed purpose, it will change its characteristics.

Message: OK how much is cutting the springs going to change the spring rate? Is it going to change it a drastic amount?

Message: I have a 99 club cab sport 3.9 also and used Hotchkis 2" drop coils up front and generic 2" drop blocks in back and the truck sits level and looks great to me. See for yourself

You really need to compare similar trucks, the R/T sits differently than non R/T Dakotas.
